Hey /jp/
If it wouldnt be too much of a bother could someone translate this to japanese?
Its obviously the tiger striped cat story from Bebop

There once was a tiger striped cat. This cat died a million deaths, revived and lived a million lives, and he was owned by various people who he didn't really care for. The cat wasn't afraid to die. One day the cat became a stray cat, which meant he was free. He met a white female cat, and the two of them spent their days together happily. Well, years passed, and the white cat grew weak and died of old age. The tiger striped cat cried a million times, and then died too. Except this time, he didn't come back to life.

Uh, you know this is a very old traditional Japanese fairy tale? Translating it into Japanese is like asking for an English translation of Red Riding Hood

Was it supposed to rhyme in moonanese, or is the overall moral (and fucking point) of the anecdote lost in translation?

But Little Red Riding Hood isn't an English fairy tale.

Just about everything rhymes in moon, which is why they develop poetry like the haiku which is based on syllables and meter rather than rhyme. Have you noticed that Japanese music doesn't actually rhyme but is rhythmic?

Indeed I have, but I've yet to develop the skills to backwards-translate a hearsay poem that lacks logical grammatical and punctuational breaks from a Japanese translation.

Well, here's a copy of Sano Yoko's book I just found on Amazon. If nothing else you can track back to a copy of the original

Quite expensive for a children's book

I'm sure it's possible to find something a bit more conventional and traditional elsewhere, but kudos on your aid and effort. I'll probably be able to locate a compilation somewhere, hopefully online.

My mistake, it was first published by Kodansha in 1977, though it's a very well known story in Japan it's not a folk tale. It's simply a well known children's book that most Japanese people are now familiar with.

A bit about the author

But honestly I'm having trouble tracking down anything in Japanese without the Kanji of her name to do it. Looking up million times died cat returns nothing useful.

There is no moral. It's basically a shaggy dog story.

no moral? It's about a cat who hates everything until he meets the white cat and realizes that unless he learns to love he can't be loved back.
