Otaku behaviour, sometimes dark and obsessive and sometimes bordering on hikikomori, tends to be very much a male domain, a way for young men to establish some sense of belonging to a "secret society" within their blandly conformist world. On the opposite end of the cultural spectrum lies the mostly female world of kawaii, or "cuteness", another means for adolescents to belong to a tribe, or zoku, which- however superficially weird and nonconformist- offers its members the comfort and assurance of group cohesion

fujoshi are a myth

OP leaves them out though and brands all females under the kawaii umbrella. If he wanted to outline a big trend, he wouldn't use otaku. They're not the male majority. If he wanted to be "obscure", he wouldn't use kawaii since that shit is everywhere.

Huge amounts of yaoi proves you wrong.

liking yaoi doesn't make you a fujoshi

I don't know, the faggot otakus I met while studying there last year were really sociable and fun to be around. My host brah had 3 bookshelves full of manga/DVD's/figures and would nonstop talk about them, yet he still had a hot girlfriend and spent more time outside than in.

Here's a word of advice, weeaboos: the Japs are different to you, the majority of them don't sit in their rooms jerking off to 2D images and stuffing their face with unhealthy shit.

I don't think train otaku are borderline hikikomori that form dark secret societies. You can see from the image where the OP is going.

I'm just saying you aren't a fujoshi if you like yaoi

yaoi is incredibly popular in Japan, it's not some subversive shameful thing only fat slobby beast women enjoy

If you enjoy yaoi, you're a fujoshi. I don't see anyway around it. Fat and slobbering is not a requirement.

That's a huge double standard

unless everyone who likes hentai is somehow an otaku

>> No.2131925

Fujoshi is a term reserved for overweight caucasian females that have no friends. They spout phrases such as 'kawaii desu ne' and 'sugoi' during normal conversation and try to pull cute faces while doing so.

Actually we call them yaoi fangirls

the word fujoshi, thankfully, hasn't permeated the consciousness of western "fandom" enough to be applied yet

I'd like to meet one of them, go on a date and then eat her vagina crust and the shit marshmallows tangled in her ass hair. I'll take pics with my canon and pin them up in the frat house. It is at that point I will become a true bro.
