it has questionable gameplay, the challenge level is messed up, is machine traslated, events are handled by the same guys who worked on hitsuji chronicles, the girls there suffered from the generic looking girl syndrome, but art keep getting better and better. so I'm glad I did not quit.

Game's a mess, but it's relatively easy to get URs. Arena is a constant flow of easy gems for people that've stuck around (and have the broken party-regen event UR)
Can get probably 200 gems a day. 1000 for an 11 roll.
Game has a "fever" system that doubles UR/SR rates after a 11 roll. Stockpile and it becomes hard to miss a rateup. Can't imagine having to spend money.
It seems like the only effort they put into the game is H-scene dialogue, which is properly translated. I guess the upkeep must be low enough that it makes profit.

I've noticed that's a problem with a lot of games, not just with Tokyo Necro. I don't know if it's tradition for these mobage grind simulators to make you go through so many result screens when they know their "gameplay" is making you spam the same stage for an eon.

At least Tokyo Necro has been fixing some of it, like the switch to pick a helper on repeat. Some games that have been out longer never bother.

I don't understand that logic, especially in the context of FKG. Event stories there tend to either complement the main story (current one for example), heavily characterize new and old girls, or both combined. In most cases they're just as "important" as character stories.

Seiyuus are expensive. Voiced event stories would be nice, but not exactly a necessity, especially if that means you get to have a steady addition of voiced character quests, date/H-scenes and huge amount of standby/seasonal lines every 2 weeks instead. Event stories are comparatively long and frankly not worth voicing most of the time. I mean, you'd rather want the girls voiced in their private moments getting all intimate with you, than spouting random RomaSaga/Ai Mai Mi memes.
Also, look at the bright side, you can just voice over the lines on your own. Dubbing is fun. (This is coming from a person who likes to read out lines for every non-voiced character in Artwhirl, even little girls like Vanessa's sister/cousin, or the little lady last event who tries to borrow MC from Rola for a dance.)

As it was said above, its 2019 and games where the entire game is falling for the characters, reading stories about the characters and collecting your favorite characters put effort in the entire thing by doing full voice. They are a very common item in login rewards.
There are weekly missions that give you cakes every 2 arena battles (no matter whether you win or lose), up until 40 battles/week.
When you roll the gacha you get medals which you can exchange for affection items in the shop.
The newly added jewel garden/house lets you send some characters on different jobs which will make them bring back materials, one of those jobs is for affection items. (this is the fastest way to get affection items, but gameplay-wise the evolution water flasks you can also get are more valuable, especially for a new player.)

There are certainly some hiccups here and there and pvp is always a joke (you still have to play it as its your source of free income), but other than that doing 6 11-rolls every 2 weeks for characters is certainly more than doable and the newer Renkiden events allows you to develop an event jewelia (similar to the highest rarity characters in other games) that can certainly define the pvp metagame. The populace and popularity is certainly picking up and going fairly strong.

Black Diamond is a big meta changer right now. On the higher ranks where I am (whale/dolphin meta), its a rock paper scissors game of whoever has someone die first loses on the spot because of Black Diamond's passive. Not helping when the buffers right now can multiply the damage so much that even front row characters (set to tank damage) can also hit as hard as a nuke.

Sapphire is not used on elite ranks right now, but might change in the future once Alliance Raids begin and we can get Illumi flasks for her awakening from said event. I expect that to begin after this Tuesday's maintenance.

What I would also advice is to prepare for the next Renkiden event and save up gems to roll for your EXP multiplier characters. Renkiden characters are what allows F2P players to keep up and fight very well in Arena. Most F2P players hover around A3-A1 rank and some can even go to S3, which these ranks give enough salary for 2 rolls a week.

Both of these girls cannot be purchased or leveled up normally outside of their respective events, but they see usage rates of almost 100% on the top 200 ranks simply because of how good they are. Sapphire Luminous is a hard hitting duelist that is absolutely immune to all status effects. Sapphire ilL provides better utility with a substantial team buff and enemy debuff but loses her status immunity. Which is better is honestly depending on the situation, but most people would agree that Sapphire ilL is more useful in nearly all situations.
You can run both Sapphire Luminous and Sapphire ilL in the same team but you cannot run normal Sapphire with any of them.

Luminous and ilL forms unlock new abilities/exchange existing abilities, and they also come with a Burst Mode that provides extra effects when empowered but will disappear when the mode ends.

You can try out the new forms on the Sapphire Demo events on the event tab, and you should because clearing them gives you 5 Illumi flasks each, it's also time limited. Don't worry about what characters you are going to bring aside from buffers as Sapphire can practically solo the map by herself.

In my opinion, spam the event stages for now to scrounge up some of the point rewards, at least. There's some easy affection items, jewels, and rainbow waters in the first few thousand. Basically the aim is to get a 6-30 team ready for Raid, Spectra, and Arena first. Raid and Spectra kinda overlaps with each other so that part isn't hard. The events are designed to be easy to clear for new players who just joined in too, and for those events you can run literally anyone. I would not even be surprised if you can get several 6-30s within a week.
Don't forget to use the jewel garden and do expeditions, they will help.

- Nutaku' Kamihime is semi-functional only because Techcross micromanages everything and prevents them from fucking up. After months of doing this, they're sick of Nutaku's shit and want to take the reins themselves.
- Kamihime's audience stabilized and Unitia isn't doing so hot despite all the effort poured to it, so they want to recoup their losses/an alternate means of revenue.
- After seeing the success of games like Azur Lane and Girls' Frontline, DMM games itself wants a slice of the foreigner cake. Kamihime will be the forerunner of inhouse localizations and, if successful, could be followed up by other games like Unitia, Shiropro, Seiken Manifestia, properly run versions of Aigis, FKG and Kanpani, and the holy grail Kancolle.
