My community college offers Japanese classes but I'm honestly terrified of the kind of people that would be taking those
I started using duolingo a bit ago but stopped because I'm also learning ASL right now and it was hard to keep track of both that and what I was learning in duolingo

From my experience there's always going to be some weird individuals taking Japanese classes but there can also be some pretty neat people. It's worth the risk.

I started learning a few months ago and I'm recognizing more and more words while watching anime which feels good but I still feel incredibly far away from actually being able to make use of it. I wish the grammar and sentence structure wasn't so complicated.

But I wished I got the money for paying the classes at my CC with my own money in order to get the skills needed for making business with Japanese companies or working for them (in the U.S.) as well finally be able to read manga in case the official translators drop my favorite manga like absolute retards and DDoS'ing unofficial translations.

You'll either have native Japanese, businessmen, ironic weebs that hate being compared to the unironical weebs and unironical weebs that don't have the best social skills (i.e. /jp/). It is going to be your choice with whom are you going to be friends with but I won't guarantee you that the best looking guys will be kind to you outside of class (i.e. sociopaths).
