I apologize if I come off as cold but what is the appeal of this? Do you all not think that dropping hundreds of dollars for a custom anime mask and wearing it (even at cons) looks creepy as hell? It's one thing to cosplay as an anime character, it's another thing to attempt to turn yourself into the anime character. To paraphrase an old adage, 2d does not work in 3d.

Kigurumi Cosplay is appealing for those people that enjoy it. Those people who enjoy it are individuals with great imagination. Whether or not this hobby is fun for someone is a matter of personal taste.

2D does in fact work in 3D, since the anime toy figure business is a multi-million dollar industry. Furthermore, the Virtual YouTuber community (anime-style 3D interactive Avatars) are currently exploding in popularity thanks to advances in augmented reality and easy-to-use 3D software.
