Okina is a very classical god, worship her and she will reward you, demean her and she will curse you, and so forth. An enemy of tengu.

Her lore is what makes her most interesting. ZUN constructed her in connection with the god she's based on, Matarajin. A god that's so obscure and identified with so many other gods that the few books on the god aren't sure where it begins and ends. Because of this, Okina is attached to a few big names in the lore of characters. Hata no Kawakatsu, Daikokuten, Ookuninushi and more.

In SSiB, Yukari says that the gods of heaven (the Lunarians) sealed Daikokuten (Okina) with extra thick shimenawa much like they did to Kanako. Why? Apparently they feared her retaliation for taking her lands, so by sealing her she couldn't go and invade the moon or something like that. Yukari also says that the war god, Takeminaka-no-kami is the son of Daikokuten and pretty much links her to Kanako. Making Okina the mother of Kanako.

Tewi and her rabbits all praise Daikokuten/Ookuninushi, which gives credence to the fact that Okina gains faith through her many identities which might also support her strength as annotated in the previous paragraph. They pound mochi for her, Tewi says she makes better medicine than Eirin (in the legend of the white hare of Inaba, Ookuninushi basically healed the hare of being skinned) and that she's nothing compared to her.

Hata no Kawakatsu is linked to Matarajin because of the suppression of the Tokoyo no Kami, a cult focused around a butterfly. The cult promised everything but couldn't deliver, and Hata no Kawakatsu (Okina) executed their leader. I've heard this is a really early record of history and myth, so this act immortalized Eternity Larva into existence as a god, even if she's only comparable to a fairy. So she and Okina are eternal rivals, more or less and the only reason she meets Cirno is because of Eternity.

Hata no Kawakatsu is also linked to Toyosatomimi no Miko (Prince Shotoku), they played a part in the creation of Noh. Okina is a god of noh. They also played a part in creating the many masks that Hata no Kokoro is made of.

This is what one lorefag has taught me, so I know it best among her lore.
Beyond this, she appears to be very fun, like when Marisa meets her at the flower viewing party. Her myth and mystery is what makes her fun to think about.
