both of the original mechagodzilla movies are pretty solid, and very different in tone. the first one has goofy sequence when a qt sings an enka song to wake up a giant foo dog to help fight mechagodzilla. the second one is a dark story of love and betrayal with a cyborg girl.

i was also pretty partial to the ghidorah movie where the astronauts find him on planet x

It's a whole different metaphysical take on it. It's grim. It drags. The end of the first movie is a kick in the balls. Well they all are really. I watched them all and would again. But it is something you have to be in the mood for. Marathoning them is probably less annoying.
