Um so the final fragment CD is scheduled at the end of summer this year.
Is there any chance that Nasu will make commentary about it? since it's going back to this script in the last volume.
If by sheer hope, Nasu continue writing his old fate into a book.

Of course we never got the answer, but it was obvious that they intended to do this silently by using Prototype's low presence in TM.

Mahotsukai no Hako isn't very popular in general and is almost dead now. Only Comptiq still publishes single 4koma strips every issue or so drawn by the HibiChika Time mangaka.

Yeah I do agree he's more of a character overall than Guda and it's just shitty nonsensical pandering overall. Characters become a whole lot less special when you can just "alternative universe lol" to everything about them; why should we care about this character and their relationships, their drama, their hardships, etc. when there's a million versions of them out there? The resolution of such drama and the relationships therein lose a lot of its weight if there's just numerous versions of her flying around and before anyone says this was an issue before FGO, I actually agree. These elements of alternatives have never sat well with me because it's just so lazy and, most importantly, degrading. FGO just happens to take these facets to its logical conclusion and implements it wholesale in bad fashion.

yeah but this is not the saddest part, Fragment or Prototype in general lacks representative fans. It has a large amount of follower, but most of them are FGO convert who are just there for prototype characters (or servants to be specific) and not prototype itself. One of the reason they were able to walk free from this retcon is that most of FGO fans don't give a shit about prototype. Rather than getting mad at it, most of them actually celebrated it. DW know that Arthur sell and not his show, thus proceeding to sell him with further Otome bait event, cheap idol lines etc, while neglecting everything that is prototype. He's been in the game for two years and he has not have a single conversation with Proto-Cu.

Almost every loyal Arthur fans/artist I see on twitter blatantly ignores Ayaka. Some do acknowledge that Fragment exist, but none of them will bat an eye on the main prototype, not a single retweet or like about it. The only people I see who do care about prototype contents are ones who actually followed fragment/prototype before FGO. It's quite depressing to see how bad of a damaged IP of the old Fate is.

Not him but i think that's because they focus on the male self insert instead. As far as i know, self insert fangirl dont just limit themselves to female protag. There's a specific label for these people and they're called 夢女子, they're fans who idolize a character regardless of anyform as long as it is just that character alone. Of course they acknowledge Ayaka but instead deny her, using the male guda is just more convenient to shield themselves from backlash. It's the same reason as how Dante is so shippable to both male and female because of mutual agreement. They dont just exist in fgo fandom, they're also in shows like detective conan, inazuma, osomatsu etc. The point here is that there are always alternative to fangirl around the canon wall. Maybe. Shirou is a very good MC, though you might start off hating him, he goes through some great development through the 3 routes. Very different from Shiki though.
There are 3 completely different routes that you have to do in order. Keep in mind that the first is quite exposition-heavy and has a lot of SoL, doesn't reach the same heights as the other two.

Almost assuredly, but what you get out of it might vary. I find that people who enjoyed the near side routes tend to enjoy Fate and UBW, and people who enjoyed the far side tend to enjoy Heaven's feel.

Not nearly as all-consuming as modern type moon has them be, FSN is about the struggles of the different masters, at its core. All the servants are interesting outside of their chuuni abilities and the interactions are varied and nuanced.

You may like the girls themselves, but for the most part the romance is probably one of the worst aspects of the VN. Personally I think Heaven's Feel had a good, non-forced romance but as for Fate and UBW it's going to feel much more shoehorned than the romance in Tsukihime.

True ending is heaven's feel, you will be playing it after Fate and UBW.

Oh yeah and as for shirou

He's the complete polar opposite of Shiki. If you want an MC who's more proactive, you'll like him. If you wanted Shiki to actually work for his powers, you'll like him. If you enjoy the practical and manly types over the distant and spaced out types, you'll like him. At a first glance he'll probably look like an irredeemable self insert but as you get into the deeper route territory he really comes into his own.

I got the impression that he was rather indecisive. God new Sion is an abortion, personality and design wise.
I know Takeuchi wanted to fit with her being a totally different character, and if he drew for the new Melty it'd be more in line with her real self, but holy FUCK I have no confidence in his skill nowadays. Her design in UNIST is perfection.
Speaking of Melty, anyone else concerned that a new Melty would require tremendous work just to re-create most of the old roster (which was already huge) in a new game, much less add new characters that deserve the spotlight? Feels like the roster of the inital release will be pretty gimped no matter what.

I don't know man, I think Nasu still has some interesting ideas. We just haven't had a chance to see it applied to a VN/LN setting, which is what literally all of his good works are. He keeps getting muddled by shitty games, other authors, and Servant pandering.

Nasu did finish Mahoyo around 2010, it was heavily delayed due to Koyama having issues with the art, and I think the earthquake in 2011 also had some impact. So, it was done around the same time as Extra.
It does feel super displaced compared to all his other stuff in this decade, I guess he was able to embrace what made the original novel he wrote good, rather than trying something drastically different. Hope he can do the same with Mahoyo.

As one of the testers on the project, there's a few unfortunate and kind of show-stopper bugs in the current version that makes it difficult for me to recommend at this time unless you know what you're doing and will keep tabs on future updates (I've already made my displeasure apparent to the devs that making the public release different from the final tested version is very much not wise and is pretty much why one of the bugs occurred at all).

In particular, for most people that aren't impatient I would at the very least recommend waiting for the next update (hopefully out by this weekend but like with many Nasuworks we could be waiting several times longer than that).

If you're curious, the two kind of show-stopper bugs are that DPI scaling greater than 100% makes the installer impossible to finish, and the Vita OP videos for UBW and HF are completely borked. Both issues can be worked around (temporarily set DPI to 100% or set compatibility to disable it, and to enable "skip in-game OPs"), but it's still not exactly great. It is considered a public beta however, so I guess it's to be expected that not everything will be perfect.

What a thoroughly vexing experience, my local showing for the Heaven's Feel film was absolutely obnoxious. People kept talking, clapping, and making comments like they're in mst3k. I loved the film, and while I have a few problems with it, the audience was the prime reason it was hard for me to enjoy my yearly venture to the theater.

I am simply upset and astonished at peoples lack of both self awareness and respect for their fellow kino-goers. End of blog post, I'd rather talk about the movie. I felt it was quite lame with the lack of Kirei's explanation of Archer's arm, the cut from Archer removing his arm to Shirou at the front door was quite awkward; having a bit of pause while also giving Kirei more screen time is a wasted opportunity imo. Illya scenes were there, but the could have expounded on them more(Illya eavesdropping on Taiga was a good addition). The Saber Alter vs Herc fight was far too gratuitous and felt like wankery, the other fights were pretty good dare I say. The score felt phoned in and a bit lame compared to Kajiura's other work, I would have liked more rearranges of VN music especially during the rain scene. Many shots and scenes were pretty well put together, though I don't really have much of an eye for that if I'm being honest. Overall, I am pretty pleased with the film itself. That's just off the top of my head, I'm off to go drink and hopefully assuage my clap PTSD before this thread dies.

Yeah, that skip of Shirou getting the arm was easily what I liked least about the movie.
I love the original Illya/Taiga scene too.
Personally my favorite parts of the movie are the stuff with Archer right after the Berserker fight, him saving Illya/Shirou and then his sacrifice. The opening credits scene with shots of the city, and the ending with Dark Sakura are both pretty kino too.

I was gonna ask at the start of next thread what people's opinions were now that it's out in the US, but thanks for sharing already!

Archer tends to be based regardless of the route he's in, I'm very glad the original stuff like that is in general really well done and does a good job of reinforcing the ideas of the route. The scenes with Sakura going crazy stick out in my mind as being pretty good, I thought the dream sequence provided a nice juxtaposition with the scene after it. Framing disturbing things like that with childish or flowery imagery leaves a lot more to the imagination and I think it makes it more disturbing.
