I think it's very much believable for them to place a large amount of their interest and focus in a single school of magic. Well, Marisa, maybe not so much, but Patchouli and Alice, I could definitely see.

I guess we could just lay it down to rest and say that we have vastly differing perceptions of Patchouli, and just leave it at that. Most people in powerlevel topics are literally biting at each other's necks and putting forth fanon events as canonical evidence. In here, it's basically just two guys saying their different ideas about Patchouli, neither one getting too aggressive or anything. There's nothing wrong with making up ideas either. The doujin scene thrives off of it, and it's a nice exercise of imagination, even though people may disagree with it.
