Jumping spiders and a few hunting types can apparently see pretty well, but otherwise I would guess most of them don't need long-distance eyesight if they're all about laying traps. I'd need to read more on specific species to say so for sure though. Take it with a grain of salt.

Body type is meaningless. Any monster can have any body type you want. The profiles are just the specific individuals that the scholar and his Leanan Sidhe interviewed. It's really down to the Echidna is all about having a bunch of children (of many different types) with a powerful man and having really high standards. World guide 3 talks about how this isn't always true and they make exceptions but with powerful breeds you have to deal with the rarity and proving yourself that you are the only one for her. The Apophis unmarried is all about her crusade against the Pharaohs and corruption.
