Why do the Japs pronounce 'curry' in such a strange way? Is it that difficult for them?

I always end up tearing up after hearing them repeat it a couple of times. CURREH. CURREH. CUR-REH~

>> No.2078659

I find "caré" so natural after hearing it throughout my childhood that curry sounds weird to me

>> No.2078665

They have a simplistic syllabary so they're not used to making lots of complicated sounds like in English

This thread is both constructive and intuitive. Also, vowels are pronounced differently in Japanese.

'e' = 'eh' instead of 'ee'
'a' = 'ah' instead of 'ay'
'i' = 'ee' instead of 'eye'

You get the point.

I always end up tearing up after hearing them repeat it a couple of times. SHNIDZLE. SCHNIZZLE. SCHNIDD-ZELE~

Because they can't spell for shit.

English is obviously not one of their strong points.

It's easier for latin language speakers since it has close phoneme for vowels
No wonder Engrish sounds awful whereas Japanese people here speaking crappy portuguese is somewhat easy to understand

It's not a steak, it's an escalope.
And the escalope is the only thing named Vienerschnitzel.
The fries are just fries.
And it's not milanese, it comes from Vienna.

Why is there so much curry and so little rice? You gotta have half-half at the very least, or it's like you never ate anything.

How do the Indians say it? I'm chinese and the way the Japs says it sounds like the way us chinese say it.

Why don't Americans pronounce croissant correctly? They obviously should because it's not a loanword or anything.

anime is actually pronounced AHH-NEE-MAY like how the Japs did it.

Also, curry is supposed to be pronounced as KAH-REE.

>> No.2079251

>>2078782
Animal, how do you pronounce it? ah-nee-mAl?
No, an-E-mul or somesuch.

likewise when most americans go to pronounce anime they do so in the same way they pronounce animal, seeing as how both share the first 4 letters.

>> No.2079270

>>2079251
It's short for animation, so it should be pronounced the same way as the first half of that word. Logically speaking.
