Tokyo is just like the US to be honest, but you take a train everywhere instead of driving, which has its upsides and downsides. It's definitely more convenient, and the inside of the major train stations usually have some surprisingly good stores even, but there's a weird loss of freedom you experience when you are shuffling through jampacked trainstations all of the time. I never appreciated driving once in my entire life until I was in Tokyo.
Convenience stores everywhere is also nice, but honestly, in most major US cities there are convenience stores full of edible food too. The only real difference is the price in US City convenience stores is exorbitant, while the ones in Tokyo are cheap. If you live in the US Suburbs where convenience stores are pure trash it'll be neat though probably.
US Work culture is pretty excessive, and Japan makes US work culture seem like heaven. The worst part is the forced drinking afterwards, the required social obligation of drinking with your co-workers and boss is soul crushing. You'll either quickly become an alcoholic, or grow to absolutely loathe alcohol and japan's drinking obsessed culture.
Once you become good enough at Japanese to handle daily conversations it becomes increasingly frustrating. People stop being nice to you as you reach the uncanny annoyance of speaking/understanding enough for everyday conversations, but not really enough to have deep conversations with (though not that japanese have any real "deep" conversations, everything is tatemae).

I lived in Japan for a few months, hated everything.

Japanese Women either only have a physical interest in you due to fetishism. Or because they are projecting their rom-com fantasies on you from numerous western romance films she has seen. They literally call this "white guys are gentleman" and they have unrealistic expectations like you giving roses and getting on your knee kissing their hands like in some weird anime. There is also a stereotype that American men are oversexualized animals because every single older woman (married or not) is going to approach you for sex and if you refuse they get angry and tell you that it's free and even grab you by the arm trying to force you in since they can't possibly comprehend that you have emotions and feelings since you are just some non-human gaijin in their eyes.

Truth is married life in Japan is usually devoid of sex as both husband and wife have tons of affairs outside of their marriage. The older women usually go for white guys for the same reasons middle-aged white women make trips to Jamaica and Africa. They think they can score relatively tall well-endowed men for their hardcore sexual fetishes. I personally even knew of one rich Japanese women in her 50s that actually paid a late teens/early 20s white kid as a kind of "sugar mommy" relationship where she paid his rent and gave him gifts and everything all the while she was married of course.

It has a lot to do with Japanese culture. That shit is toxic to the fucking core, I can't understand why anyone would like it. Obligation/sense of duty is huge in Japan, so cunts will work 12 hour days + work drinking parties out of duty, get married and stay married all the while cheating on the spouse, and people will have kids out of obligation to their family/society only to treat them like shit. You can be a huge piece of shit in Japan, but you better do it privately.

This isn't rare either, it's insanely common. I myself regrettably have cheated with a Japanese girl, married and partnered women have sexually propositioned me (once in front of their spouse fucking weirdly) and I know of and have witnessed the same thing happen to others. My interest in Japan and Japanese people has basically dropped to zero because of it.

Next post will deal with their education system.

>how's their educational system?
Atrocious, absolutely Atrocious. Take my experience as hearsay.

In my lowly days as a high school English teacher in Japan, I remember thinking that the way teachers work here is extremely inefficient and unnecessarily tiring. Talk for 2 hours while drinking coffee, complain about being tired for 1 hour, and do all your planning and paperwork after hours. I know there's a cultural element there where people work together and stay late to support others, but it always seemed like they could shave a lot of time off of their work day and still get everything done. I have watched three teachers fail badly at the school I work in, and have seen ludicrously inefficient practices. Teachers fail to use technology well and have little chance for professional development. The kids at risk (those living in poverty, or with learning disabilities, or emotional/physiological problems) do not have special needs teachers, and school counselors have few days at our school and are booked up all the time.

Japan is a dying Nation not worth saving.

nobody does this shit even in the west. imagine if you had a job where if you worked more efficiently, you can go home early while being paid the same amount. doesn't fucking happen. jobs are basically 50% wasted time, keeping you where you'd rather not be for the sake of training you to become an obedient modern slave that thinks it's the norm.

I guess it all depends on what you compare it with.
If you live in a shithole it will seem better, if you're used to an higher standard then it will seem worse.
I heard for years how expensive Japan was, to the point of being a mythical luxurious place in my head. But not too long ago I discovered my city, in a shitty country, is actually most expensive than fucking Tokyo.
Also heard how many hours they can work, being the whole country some sort of massive sweatshop; but then again, in my beloved homeland I have worked for years 70h/week for little more than peanuts.
I guess Japan isn't too bad if you're there legally and you don't go expecting some sort of holyland.

While it doesn't apply to your post, my question to "country X is dying" is always:

1. Is your country not dying?
2. If it is, is there anywhere which is not?
3. If not, what's the net negative?

It's not political, as much as I've had so many fatalists online give this line in an offhanded fashion (you don't).

For context I bounce between Canada and Australia which both have myriad of issues. I've just heard compared to other first world countries Japan has some of the worst education and work conditions in terms of the culture bringing people to suicide. I should note my evidence only comes from visiting and talking to friends and not statistics so its anecdotal at best. I've also heard the same people say out of all of Asia they'd still pick Japan.

I enjoyed my few months there, but I am not whitey white, I am a tall Italian/Asian looking dude(im 'white Hispanic') . If you are a stick in the mud, i.e blonde hair, ginger etc you will be treated as a mega novelty by most Japanese but on the plus the elusive gaijin hunter will beeline for you.
Japanese Girls are muuuuch more roundabout than western girls, but ended up scoring a lot simply because I went out a lot. Including making out with a Highschool girl(dont worry i am 21 and she was 18), fucked 25-30 year olds in love hotels(i prefer older women) blah blah sex is everywhere. I love being able to drink at basically whatever time I want and that the city/train system locks everyone out to party till train open.

Honestly going to Japan for anime or weeb shit is a fucking mistake, dont do it if thats why you want to come over. You will be bored within a week. If you love to party and seeing new culture and dont have a disgusting level of yellow fever you will have tons of fun.
