For whatever reason Kisaragi Zwei/ZWEIGNW002 deleted literally every Touhou picture he ever drew a while ago (among other things), had them removed from danbooru, and protected his twitter account. A bitchfit? Who knows.

While you're right, I personally always find this kind of thing an extreme act that's really completely unnecessary, especially considering you can often find the entire history of the artist's work even without their permission. Deleting everything thus just ends up being a hassle.

I think the only times I could understand it would be potential legal troubles or artworks that could really screw with your reputation after many years (like furry or guro or lolicon or something I dunno). In his case, his animations are all completely wholesome and didn't need to be hidden. He does have a lot of big breasted Touhou porn... but he still draws porn.

He'd been in the Touhou game for a veeeery long time though. It's mysterious.

I don't want to start a rumor, but my own speculation is that perhaps his official-ish animations were much more popular than his other art. To me, that seemed to be the case, as I'm pretty sure he was just your average boobie Touhou artist otherwise. Maybe he got bombarded with requests (for specific characters or commission), maybe he just didn't like that his most well-known works were his "mimicking someone else's style" works that probably took a good amount of time to produce (and the most famous of which were in ZUN's not-great art style). It's the *most* reasonable thing I can come up with given he's still making art and still on twitter, just with protected tweets.

Literally speaking, death is the end of life. If you are able to return, death would be inaccurate since there isn't any permanence. It would not be an action of any morality, as wanting to die would only be to have a different way of life, not an end to it.

Pretty sure part of the appeal of Cookie was a reaction to Touhou being literally everywhere in the 2007-2012 period.

Imagine being someone who was not a particular fan of Touhou, only to find it shoehorned into EVERY otaku tangent. I could see some folks having schadenfreude when something like the original VA came out, and of course it's Touhou.
