Look for the Leather Man in the locker room.
If someone tells you that the Leather Club is two blocks down, say "Fuck you" to him and then he will claim that he is the boss of this guild but don't believe him. Let the Leather Man handle the rest.
He is the guild master and he will take you to his dungeon for recruitment training.

Started playing Mabinogi but got pissed off because I could tell it was just a watered down version of what it once was. Maybe the mobile game will be good but I doubt it. I like the concept of "fantasy life", but it seems like there's only a small number of games in that genre. Closest I could find to Mabinogi was V&H but I don't have time to waste on it if it's shit (and it's not /jp/ anyway).

>>20651318
Can confirm, within the first hour I was chatting with an autistic girl who was trying to shower me with free equipment.

>> No.20653406

>>20653132
Loli bellies, definitely close. In general I don't understand why people have most conversations. I used to be brutally direct without realizing it and had all my conversations be either about how this or that guy is lame or essentially loli bellies. I'd get kicked for being a belligerent autist and all I remember is feeling total confusion as to what just happened. I've gotten somewhat better at aligning myself with social expectations, but there's no guarantee.
This feeling that I don't get people and need to avoid interaction is at odds with the feeling that I'm actually so lonely, genuinely autistic and just want to "fit in". It's why I get so wounded over failure.

With jpsies in particular I'm afraid of not knowing the correct way of behaving like a jpsie to begin with. I've been here for a bunch of years and I've gotten some grip on how to be an imageboard jpsie, but being an "mmo jpsie" is unexplored territory. Oh well, hope you had a laugh at my Asperger's.

Don't act like a memelord and be friendly, help people if you can. If you don't think you can add anything to a conversation you're not already involved in, then don't. Avoid criticizing people and try to make one or two very close friends instead of appealing to the whole group. Read the mood, if it seems laid back then it's usually OK to be more open/autistic especially once you've established yourself. These are the basic guidelines for ANY sort of guild, /jp/ or not. In a over a decade of playing MMOs I've never once been kicked from one and I've even been promoted to management positions of big guilds this way.

And of course if it wasn't obvious, if the guild doesn't seem good then just leave. Unfortunately a lot of modern MMO guilds are just Discord faggots circlejerking in their cliques.

>> No.20653851

>>20653660
Just as an addendum, basically don't be a retard and join guilds relevant to your interests. The whole point of a guild, after all, is to have a group of like-minded individuals to talk with. And if you can't talk about how much you want to molest loli bellies or impregnate your favorite 2hu, then why be in one in the first place? Forcing yourself to fit in to something you don't like and shallow interaction with people you have nothing in common will probably just make you feel worse.

Growing as a person requires being exposed to different experiences and developing based off what gets learn from them. I'm not saying sharing strongly common interests is a bad thing, but a bit of difference between friends is not bad either for broadening one's horizons.

The only thing that's been touched is the battle system and rebirth system. It's more Fantasy Life than ever and battling is only a portion of what you do in that game.

What exactly do you feel was watered down? It's still ridiculously difficult and less casual if anything since everything's balanced around ultra powerful end game players. I feel sorry for newbies honestly. Do you want them to spend 2 weeks getting to level 50 and pay 15$ to rebirth and be able to level again so they can learn new skills like in the old days?

Also I don't know why you want a /jp/ guild. You'll just get a bunch of people who barely talk. Just join whatever.
Also guilds still cost money in the form of a premium subscription to put up a guild stone so you can let people join, so you need someone willing to pay out and let people into a guild.

I absolutely agree, but the changing community of MMOs makes this more difficult than it used to be. People aren't as friendly or interested in others as they used to be, and impenetrable cliques are a worsening plague further reinforced by the explosion of Discord. If you don't have at least one similar interest you'll probably feel even more alienated than when you weren't in one (or at worst, kicked, which that anon seems to have already gone through).

At least as far as groups go, usually the people in them have more diverse interests than whatever niche it's aimed towards. You just have to have to try asking people about what they like. So if you join say, the loli bellies guild you'll have at least one similar point of interest, and if you ask around you may find someone who wants to talk about /k/ or /m/ stuff. It's all about how far you're willing to interact with people.

>> No.20656640

>>20656188
Unlucky anon here, I want to confess more to make you understand why I'd actually get kicked out of a guild. I remember getting, I would say, truly autistically obsessed with how the mmo had worked in the past and would dump the trivia onto people. I think I got pretty close to considering anyone not interested in memorizing trivia and the "true spirit of the game" a dumbass who didn't deserve to be a player. The jargon was evolving and I wouldn't shut up about this and that term being new and bad and other good and true and I believed I could change people by educating them correctly so that the greatness of the game could be restored if they used the correct jargon of old again. It feels like I actually believed I was going to live in the game till the last day of my life.
I once met a girl in the game, a rarity, so I eventually broke into a 2 hour long angry rant about the game not being what it used to be because the stats were renamed or something, together with a retelling of the heroic past; for some reason she sat through it all, so on the next day I tried to make her watch old ass pvp videos which I considered spiritual masterpieces (I had been watching them nearly everyday myself) while going full belligerent autismo about it; the best I can say about it now is that the girl actually tried to apologize for not understanding the content of the videos. I lost her after that.
In general, everything just seems so horrible because I was a know-it-all asshole 24/7 while genuinely believing that people should be grateful they even get to hear something from me, the true knower of ways. Actually, I believed myself to be completely awesome, and all my interests were completely awesome too. fuck, you can imagine how well that went since I was at least a proto-/jp/sie at that point. I eventually succumbed to depression from the near constant social failure.

The storylines aren't cheery, so play through those if you want, or play the more grim looking Mabinogi Heroes AKA Vindictus.
Outside the story, the game is just silly and taking it easy, although the monsters aren't cute or cheery, which has always bothered me about the game. If you only play grimdark games, anime MMOs probably have a weird feel to them.

Embarrassingly was almost twenty by the end of it, but I suppose those are still teenage years. it was also that I wasn't really able to become the "hero" that I wanted to be because there's only so much you can do if you can't get people to cooperate with you on the crucial things. The whole concept of having an MMO life turned sour for me and at the same time I noticed I had a nonexistent real life with a nonexistent future. to blogpost more, I came near to suicide, but the thought that at least one girl tolerated me at my worst for noticeably longer than she'd had to, made it for me impossible to feel that i was truly without value. girls save lives

Mabi is nearly completely untouched from how it was on launch, the only major thing I can think of is there's some stuff to help beginners out now and there was also the dungeon revamp which just made them into what they were supposed to be from the beginning anyways.

If by "watered down" you're referring to the beginners buffs, just reach cumulative level 1000 (you can daily rebirth with the buffs so it's easy) to take the training wheels off and watch how everything rapes you if you didn't properly skill yourself. On top of it taking a week to rebirth afterwards as well.

>> No.20657791

>>20657383
Well, like I said, there aren't many. There's like, SMT Imagine, PSO whatever version, Dragon's Dogma Online, Emil Chronicle, FF11&14, Wizardry, and Master of Epic that I can think of. Also Cyberstep's trash(e.g. Cosmic Break, Onigiri) The majority of anime looking ones are South Korean, which is the main maker of MMOs besides China and Chinese speaking countries. Japanese don't really play computer games or make MMORPGs. It's why MMOs are an otaku hobby. They're the ones spending time on computers.

I don't know about atmosphere, but Tree of Savior probably has the darkest storyline I've seen. It's post apocalyptic, but cutesy themed. The badguys are basically trying to kill off the remaining humans so they can feed their souls to Azathoth and unmake the world. Lots of betrayals and death and basically every NPC you get to know will die horribly and/or hilariously. Also you get to play classes like inquisitors with torture tools and Australian witches with blood magic.

I don't think anything really had an atmosphere more than SMT, which sort of depressed me even playing it. Not sure how grim you can get while still keeping an anime style either. I'm sure there are some Eastern non-anime MMORPGS that are grimdark, though I don't play those. I do recall Requiem: Memento Mori (I think it's called nowadays. It used to be called Bloodymare or something) is supposed to be bloody and horror, but I don't know how grimdark it is over just being gruesome. I'm pretty sure it's Korean.

If your goal is just to play princess, I would highly recommend you come back. Fashionogi is the reason why a very large population still play, and one of the recent updates also lets you power grind to level 5000 cumulative so getting to the point where you're strong enough to reasonably grind gold means buying gacha outfits off the auction house is not at all unreasonable.
For example, this entire outfit costs about 5mil on the auction house including the dyes. That would only take about a week to grind from Shadow missions and what not (at least that's how it is on Alexina).

Since the beginning, people only flocked to the server with the highest population(Mari), making that one the highest pop. At once point they added a new server(Alexina) that all new people flocked to, making that one the highest pop server. Ever since then, the lowest pop server(Tarlach) has been whining about how there should be a server merge. The community moderators(not even the staff, just the shitty nobodies in charge of corralling the forumgoers) recently put up a poll to see who wanted a merge. Tarlach is celebrating thinking all 4 servers will be merged and they will finally have someone to play with.
I think at some point they moved Tarlach to the top of the server list to trick people into thinking it was new and bolster its population. If you start the game, don't fall for it and join Mari or Alexina. Just stay the heck off Ruairi where I am.

The only real thing they need to do is remove some channels from each server. Each one has like 7 channels and has never needed 7 channels. Going back to the original 5 or even 3 on the lesser population servers would be fine.

>I don't get people saying it needs a graphical update.
1. A lot of people still don't, and for a long time in the past, use anti-aliasing with the game which makes it look awful. It seems like they made it anti-alias itself somewhat in recent times but when it's all jaggly it looks so bad it's like a different game.

2. A lot of the really early, like beta era and g1-3 clothes look fucking awful, mostly because of the textures that feel like they didn't even try. Clothes nowadays are so different looking and even the middle generation clothes are way better. Even with that, hands and feet still look awful, feet less so since they have better shaped shoes nowadays but hands seem like they'll always be that way, gloves or not.

It's a nice effect, definitely makes the game feel more like a movie. It makes the world seem more cold, though, and detracts from the 'warm' feeling the game has, so I usually keep it off, only sometimes turning it on during serious quests, since it fits them.

The ideal combat class for 200ms delay would be Magic or Alchemy, but these are also the most expensive and hardest to train classes. also the strongest and funnest

If you're a normie, go with chain.
If you're the master race, go with archery.
If you're an oneechan, go with lance.

I always recommend training close combat first or at least in tandem with the above as no matter what class/race you prefer. The stats it gives will make working on anything else much easier. Not to mention half of the skills will be vital throughout the rest of the game with any other skillset.

Now to stay 10 forever is to not the adult in you let the world/life/etc weigh you down and prevent you from seeing wonder in everything. Being a neet really fucks that over. At the least find a physical hobby you enjoy. Drawing, carving, modelling, it doesn't matter; something that your hands can mold and something that you can display to remind yourself that you can leave a mark. Go on casual short jogs every morning and take in the sun, if you're too embarrassed from others seeing you--do it at night. If you're a wagecuck I'd still recommend all of the above, but make sure you're able to do a job that's not monotonous and repetitive, find something that has variety and can surprise you every day in some way. Usually these are physical and require some talent in some way, but there's always somewhere you can start.

No.
Bags are really hard to trade. They may have been trying to give it to another one of their characters, but those bags aren't particularly valuable or large.

>Is this bad etiquette?
Dunno. Most important things couldn't be picked up by others anyway. Back when items lasted on the ground longer, the ground would be littered with books and amulets and sometimes upgraded armors people dropped so it'd be out of their inventory for a while or just to show off with people unable to pick it up. People know the risks of dropping something on the ground.

Btw, make sure you have enough sacks/boxes for money if you run missions or something else with people. If it overflows, it'll fall out onto the ground. They may or may not take it, but their doll bags don't care.

Music skills are affected only by how good you are at playing music. Dischord being an attack, will be stronger if you have more str though.

However, in Mabinogi, skills are not generally affected by your stats (with some exceptions), rather your stats affect how much damage a particular weapon type does and that damage is multiplied by whatever the skill multiplier is. This means bow damage scales off your dex, gun damage scales off your int and your str, most melee weapons scale off your str, etc. Instruments, not being weapons, probably don't scale off anything but having more str should increase your damage if you hit something with it. I think using instruments is like using tools as weapons in that it becomes weaker than using your bare hands. But the Dischord attack can only be used with an instrument.

The exceptions mentioned above are magic, alchemy, and crafting skills. Magic scales off your magic attack which is itself it augmented by int and whatever modifiers you have from your weapon and enchants and titles.(this means you can have decently powerful bolts even when not using a magic weapon.) Alchemy is influenced by your HP/MP/SP and most crafting skills are made more successful with dex.

So what you need to do to have better music is raise Playing Instrument, Song, and Musical Knowledge, upgrade instruments, and put music buff increasing enchants on things.

>> No.20747752

Yeah that's supposed to help you get levels quickly. I think beginners still have some benefits until level 1000 or something so be careful about that. The level cap you can reach before a rebirth is necessary is 200 btw.

Also I don't like that memoir thing I want Eiry back, but nonetheless read what it tell you in the book so you can learn useful stuff about playing the game.

Music skills don't actually utilize stats for buff bonuses.

( 1 + ( (Grandmaster Bard Talent Music Buff Effect Bonus + Playing Instrument Music Buff Effect
+ Song Music Buff Effect + Music Buff Effect titles + Instrument Music Buff upgrades
+ Music Buff enchants + Playing Instrument Effect reforge) * 0.01 ) ) * Performance Quality
* Music Skill's Base Effect * ( 1 + ( Musical Knowledge Performance Effect reforge * 0.01 ) )

Dischord does use strength though as its a melee attack skill.

Music playing is chance based, skill rank increasing the chance and scroll rank decreasing it.

You can look on the wiki under stats and it'll tell you what benefits what. Music skills give you a lot of dex and int, so it'll really help you out with archery, magic, puppetry, and chain. Harvest gives luck which chain also needs, very very few skills give luck, and its always needed.

Yeah that's pretty much why I couldnt get into it. Playing it felt like a job.
I love all the detail and realism put into it, but being a space game just doesnt mesh well with that, at least with what's available.

There'd have to be actual character based play where you can interact with real shipmates onboard the same ship. Each could operate various parts of the ship if the ship is big and complex enough for that. Places where you can dock and hang out with other players in person and form crews. Just things that make it feel more personal and social instead of robotic and tense. That's the one missing layer that makes me lose interest.

>>20759799
That's pretty much how I feel about it too, yeah. It sucks because it's really cool thematically, I love everything about the setting and the factions, especially the ship designs. It seems easy to immerse yourself in it. But the actual game itself feels like it may as well be a full time job like you mentioned, I know a lot of people say that about MMOs, but in EVE it's really possible to spend an entire day in it and feel like you accomplished absolutely nothing - or even actually set yourself further back than when you started. Moreso true if you try to just stake out on your own, because you'll always be objectively weaker than if you were in a corporation, and good luck if a corporation or somebody in one decides they don't like you.

When I tried it a few years ago that character interaction thing was actually something they were working on, you could get out of your ship with your character and walk around stations you docked at. When I played it a few months ago it was completely scrapped though, I think people were complaining that it detracted from the spaceships the game was supposed to be about so they just removed the feature since they thought it wasn't worth putting more effort into. I dunno though, maybe you just need to be a specific type of person to get into games like these. At least I can enjoy the music though.

Can we talk about the OST too? Boss FDG and Uroboros are my favorite tracks. The original rotating title theme always gives me immense nostalgia too. I'll never get over how Boss FDG incorporates the title theme.

I wonder if this is a common feeling. I'm in the same boat as you and now I'm frantically trying to get good at some sort of productive hobby to make up for all the time I essentially wasted. Especially because I only played old netoge which are either dead or warped beyond recognition due to increasingly worse playerbases. All I have to show for it are good memories from a bygone time.

One note music scrolls too so it's over in an instant. It's the easiest skillset to train. The only one close to a pain would be harvest because it uses a cooldown.

Imagine getting burnt out with just music skills? They wouldn't survive playing any game that involves training skills, anything online.

That's my point though, it's been running on like 20 players for years. If /jp/ played, it would go back to around 20, and if we somehow recreated the time when /a/ and /v/ were playing and /vg/ came too it's probably go up to at least 50. Some people would want to spend money again and they'd get the funds to be open another 3 years or something from those 2 weeks we bothered playing.

I wish someone would make an online robot fighting game that wasn't shit though.

I don't play the game but it looks like they suspended the ability to pay for stuff, everything related to it on the website at least is greyed out. This was likely planned since a few months ago so too I doubt they'll cancel it over a spike in players which they're probably expecting anyways.

I'm more surprised they're not doing anything as a final big bang before it shuts down, like letting people roll the gacha for free or something. It's depressing seeing online-only games shut down since you can never go back to them.

Well, they said they were migrating accounts to JP servers, so they couldn't have people freely getting gatcha bots.
