I had forgotten about this. I guess the plans for making a plushie were scrapped, but I'm still willing to try my hand when I have some free time.
Spent some time reading on the preparation needed for a plush doll, while dealing with the inherently awful plush makers communities.

Anyway, just want to see if there are people interested in this, or willing to help me design the body. Or for an easier thing, just making a sitting version of something nice to have around as a huggable thing. I'm thinking a Cirno, Chen or Wriggle, seeing that the somewhat official ones covered the basics already.
Speaking of, could someone post those touhou dolls? I would like to get some details out of them...

Ok, the hair/tentacle thing is driving me crazy. Most octopus patterns are head and tentacles, the shift of hair to tentacles is hard to model.

Also, I've been thinking of making a simple Atai Cirno as a starter project. The thin limbs are easy to adapt from other simple patterns, and would look cute enough. It's the hair that worries me, a single fleece layer lacks volume...

Ah shit, I was busy eating.
I think a deconstruction of the typical cow shape would be a lot of help. It's difficult to see how the head connects to the body, or the underside to check the limbs.
I'm thinking, a somewhat square oval for head, with a couple of folded parts for the ears like a real cow's. Body composed of two main parts, one upper that includes the limbs, and an underside that joins the thing together.
Due to the round and chubby nature, I think it could be harder to get it to keep that form with only a few pieces, but further research is helping me to keep that squarish-round form.
Head decorations would be added afterward.

Couple of sketches later, I'm starting to get a good idea of how the cow is formed, and how to get it look roundish while keeping that elongated cubic shape. More detailed drawings would help, specially to see how the parts connect

Already have a basic pattern for that, it's not that difficult. Doing one of those is more a technical challenge, getting the clothing right and following the instructions correctly.
Doing the cows, however, is starting from scratch. Involves a lot of drawing in paper and modeling it, things that I can do now, seeing that I have no materials.

Atai Cirno would be nice to have as a sitting plush.

Good morning.
I checked a lion plushy I had lying around and had almost the exact body shape I am aiming for the cowhou. It needs to be more fat, but I know how to get that. The most important thing is that now I can get the fat legs to connect well to the body and still look like a proper four-legged fat animal. Next up in modeling, head details and how to get the backside to stay flat.
I should scan sketches and such. Maybe later.

Ok, cowhou at first it is.
Almost have a pattern prototype ready, but I'm not so sure of how the proportions are, specially for the legs. And I still have no idea of how to connect the head to the body. I'm thinking of sewing it around 1/4 down the backside of the head, connected to the top of the flatter frontside of the body. It should keep the head rising a bit from the body, but the head being long enough to cover the middle.

Also, I'm starting to think like Shirou. I must know every detail to make a good replica.

From the thumbnails I could found one that looked like the one, and a crochet one too. Plus, a whole load of small models.

Checked the tutorial from /toy/, definitely not what I'm aiming for. But a skeleton is a good idea for limited pose ability. It would certainly help with that damn tentacle/hair.
