I'm getting blackpilled about Japanese culture. I took 2 classes on the language and read/watch stuff in the language pretty often but I'm really falling out of love.

For people this has happened to before, what sort of things have grabbed your attention back so that you renewed your interest overall?

I dislike their country and rigid culture, I just like otaku media. So can't help you there.

I'm the opposite. The more I learn and discover about actual Japan life the less interested I am in doing anything beyond tourism to otaku destinations. And even then, some areas of the whole otaku industry bother me.

How long did it take you to become good at English?

Now sit down, then realistically reflect on how long you'd take to achieve a similar level of proficiency in Japanese.

>> No.20610465

Realizing how much doujin content (and manga) there is that never gets scanned nor translated made me interesting in the language, but eventually the language itself and other aspects of Japan became the motivating factor for me.

I was always aware that I'd stop studying the language if I lost interest in doujin and manga content the country produces, so I wanted to find other reasons to keep studying it in case of losing interest in those few subjects. Thankfully the language itself is very fun and beautiful despite its difficulty that it keeps me going by itself. Getting good filler for CV and being able to talk with locals and bragging rights about having learned a language like Japan by studying it alone also impresses other people, since they don't know what level of Japanese actually is impressive.

Not being a pussy-ass faggots who think all the bad outweights the good and just focus on the things I like of it just like I'd do with any other culture.

I'm learning japanese so one day I will walk by a japanese high school after classes end and I will walk into a japanese beauty comparable to Komi. I wouldn't communicate with her at all, but look at her beauty for about a second or less before I go back home to my home country. Wish me luck in finding a japanese beauty comparable to Komi!

Can't say I share the same feeling, OP. It feels good learning Japanese at a slow pace since I only use it as a tool for my japanese-related hobbies. Whatever new info or trivia about japanese culture I get from my practice is a bonus. This is why you set a goal instead of going full weeb.

i started learning because i got absolutely nothing else to do

i hate games, 98% of all new anime is absolute trash, and i've watched the old ones countless times, and i only masturbate like once a week because porn is boring and im getting older

i do have a job, but its a garbage factory job, it screws with your head, but it pays well i guess

im pretty good at nihongo, but now im starting to think, why bother? i will never go to japan, i hate traveling, i hate leaving my parent's house, no one will hear me speak the language, i will screw up anyway, heck i dont even read anything japanese unless im practicing

i kind of want to quit my job and become a NEET since i dont even use the money on anything but lottery tickets lmao, but dont want to disappoint my parents any further

life is a joke and i want off the ride

If you're really into this stuff, there's no escape even if you wanted one. Spend time on something else that interests you and you'll most likely naturally drift back towards otaku media after a while, without the need to force yourself. Otherwise, stop wasting your time trying to keep your interest alive when you're not that into it.

There's no need to take Japanese culture as a full package either. You're just learning the language, not learning to become a Japanese.
