Just admit that the only reason why you hate Naruto is because it is popular. Even the slight mentioning the the word "Naruto" and you begin to cringe. You think to yourself, if that guy is talking about Naruto, he must be a newcomer to anime. Yes it is true that Naruto is a magnet for children and newcomers, but I'd rather see newcomers watching a shonen show like Naruto as opposed to a generic shoujo shows like Cardcaptors. Animu was never about moe, harem, and/or slice-of-life. The slice-of-life genre was created for the Visual Novel reading faggots, who don't have a life. Said faggots are no better than the normalfags who watch reality shows.

Notice how in Daicon 4 there's no harem and/or homosexual male protagonist. Animu was about sci-fi and imagination, not tsunderes and moeblobs.

Naruto (just like Halo) is popular for a reason.

1) The shonen fight genre historical has always been the most popular.
2) Naruto is arguably the best show from the said genre. Let me elaborate:

Dragon ball = 30 good episodes, and 100 episodes of shit.
DBZ = Snail pacing.
Yuyu Hakusho = One mediocre season after another till it got to the dark tournament (but by that time it was too late to save the show).
One Piece = Looney tunes with fighting.
Bleach = 80% Yuyu Hakusho copypasta, 10% Naruto copypasta, and 10% DBZ copypasta. I know all shonen fight shows are cliche, but Bleach takes it to a whole new level.

In the same way that Halo is the overall, best FPS. Naruto is the overall best shonen fight animu. Hence the reason why it got a huge following both in Japan and America.

Naruto as a main character was a breath of fresh air for the shonen fight genre. Finally, there was a shonen fight show where the main character wasn't a mary sue. I guess since Naruto was your first shonen fight animu, you couldn't appreciate the originality of him being the weakest. Enjoy your generic "cool and strong" main characters from Yuyu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, and Bleach. The later half of bleach made me facepalm. Ichigo became #445 generic shonen protagonist.

You don't know what you're talking about. Allow me to educate you.

Rurouni Kenshin: The main character's powerlevel is ridiculously higher than his opponents. The only side character on his team that is even close to his power is Saito.
Dragonball: Again, Goku is ridiculously more powerful than the rest of his team mates. In Dragonball, Goku was practically immortal.
Yuyu Hakusho: The main character is stronger than all of his team mates. Even in the earlier episodes before he trained, he managed to beat both Kurabara and Hei in a fight.
Bleach: Once again all of the side characters are useless.

Naruto was truthfully a breath of fresh air. It took Naruto 50 episodes to catch up to his peers. And even then, he could only fight against them using his hax.
