Any doujin work that isn't a hentai or a gag comedy is probably welcome on this thread.

This one is about Alice making an autonomous doll that turned out to be a little more disappointing than she had hoped. I'm sure this isn't the first time someone wrote about this development of Alice finally completing her life's work, but this is the most interesting take I've seen so far.

The artist also has an interesting looking Reimu origin's book which I haven't had the chance to read yet.

This is also my not so subtle way of getting recommendations from /jp/.

Forgot to mention this was the last story in Grand Guignol, a neat little compilation of grim (using this word with full knowledge of how this triggers /jp/) stories from various artists. Weirdly there's a lesbian story there with Hifuu Club. Hmmm....

I'm really excited about the Yuuka and Reisen + Hatate books. He doesn't draw these characters a lot. Also looking forward to Mugamubiru 6, same as every year. The Mugamubiru 5 I ordered last December didn't arrive...

Rainmaker by Ameyama Telegraph

This one is strange and the art is pretty ugly, but I ended up liking it a whole lot. Oddly charming, edgy in a cartoonish way, and has one of the more unique depictions of Reimu. A good amount of action and drama.

That ending was straight out off Runagate. I do like how cool that plan is, so I don't mind. The more doujins that reference that ending, the better, because it's one of the best things ZUN ever wrote.

That doujin about Ringo stuck in a loop after dying for no reason then went back 40 seconds into the past (which then repeats) during the events of LoLK. It has something to do with the game mechanic in Point-Device mode involving Ultramarine Orb that lets you reset the stage after dying without limit.

It doesn't have the best drama and kind of silly since it's clear the author just want to make Groundhog Day-kind of story after looking at Point-Device mode but I appreciate that someone actually made it and it's enjoyable, at least for me. Also the fact that it's centered around not-so-popular character like Ringo.

Well, do try to share. This is kind of a book club thread after all.

In any case, that was a really cool doujin. Felt like I was reading a chapter in some battle shounen series and I mean that in the best way possible. The writer did a really good job of guiding us through Ringo's suspicions and how she tries to solve every problem that comes her way. That panel where she shot her own ear off was really memorable.

Here's a historical doujin. This one gives a backstory to Mokou's immortality, Keine's hakutaku form/history manipulation abilities, and how the two came to know eachother. It's also an interesting take on the creation of Gensokyo.

pic unrelated but the Omoito series by Morino Hon is a classic and has one of my favorite doujin artstyles of all time. It's also a doujin about Alice's obsession with her life work and also puts a focus on Medicine which is nice. Lot of the fight scenes are really well framed so its easy to follow the action and Morino Hon's redesigns look stellar as always

grimsokyo gets a lot of well deserved flak but i genuinely like zounoses dark stuff cause he at least does a little bit of research on the lore and backstory of some of the touhous

ʎɓoloǝpI　ǝsɹǝʌǝᴚ by 羽々斬. The story isn't outstanding by itself, but it does something very neat that makes it worth reading.

I'm actually really happy I own Rainmaker as well as the prequel. The prequel I felt had better writing but Rainmaker's climax was just too good.

Another good Ameyama one is his Koishi yo Koishi Naze Odoru which was a collab with Noda Bunshichi. Its scanned but unfortunately untranslated.

I kinda like his artstyle and storytelling (even though I can why those can be quite jarring at times to most people), but when I checked his pixiv it seems he has stopped doing 2hu and now makes some degenerate porn shit. He actually didn't seem to draw 2hu for a long time either.
Still, I really appreciate his 2hu stories. Life of Hakurei Reimu is some hilarious shit, too.

If we are talking good doujinshi, the works of Musha Prune (Totaku aka the author of Hakumei to Mikochi) and Chihiro (Kemonomichi/Zazenbeat) are always my go tos. Also u (Hitouitsu Genshi Shitsuryou Tani) did some really cool Hifuu doujins a while back.
