So im doing a report on an area of Japan and I was wondering if there are any underrated/obscure places which /jp/ might like to go to if they were in Japan. Extra points if you say a location in the countryside.

An empty field in the countryside.

Reigando cave and the grave of Musashi.

Onomichi, Hiroshima

Mostly because it's the setting for Kamichu.
But also a fairly nice little ex-shipyard with a disproportionate number of temples and shrines and the residences of several important 20th Cent poets. (One of them quoted on the rock in pic.)

>> No.2059414

I was thinking Sapporo but it seems kinda overrated.

heh, I've been to Onomichi and went to the temple they used for the Kamichu op

very nice laid-back town but it was the middle of august and godawfully humid

Interesting. I'm not OP, but the setting for Kamichu really stood out to me. So I appreciate that piece of information in case I get the chance to drop by and take pictures someday.

Oh, that seems really nice. Maybe a summer time exploration is in order.

OP here, looks like a really nice place. So is it best known for its temples?

Akihabara.

I think it's best known for just being a picturesque coastal town in Hiroshima.

Also featured in Ozu's Tokyo Story.

Amusingly, America is oddly littered by pagodas.

More so on the west coast than on the east. However, Pennsylvania has several, and one of particular beautiful construction and landscaping has become a rather legendary restaurant.

It's also filled with panic and dogs.

I went there. Even begged a guide to Hinamizawa for Higurashi fags off some guys who were hanging around at the 'Furude' shrine. Sadly I was short on sleep so I left the camera on the wrong ISO all fucking day. All pictures are overexposed.

America is littered by everything. It's HUGE! It has HUGE GUTS, and lots of empty space for loonies to build things for whatever reason. You could spend three lifetimes exploring it, and not find all the weird shit.

>> No.2059630

Do the report on Gensokyo.

Yeah, but those loonies sometimes build cool stuff.

Like that freak in Florida that built an entire castle by himself out of coral.

Just wanted to thank this poster for bringing Onomichi to my attention. I (2059427) did end up getting a chance to drop by and take some pictures back in May; it was delightfully picturesque.
