Am I going crazy or does F/SN Realta Nua have a track from Tsukihime? I'm (re)playing through the Fate route now and I'm on the first day where Taiga plays a prank on Shirou and leaves. The track is the TV noise in the background and at least a part of it consists of a Tsukihime track.

Arcueid is super cute but she's used to hunting creatures and exterminating them. She's not a soldier and she's not used to being stalked.

Her instinct warned her against Gae Bolg and Tsubame Gaeshi and she dodged (more or less) both. She's got the speed and the foresight to dodge Shiki's attacks and keep her distance. I very much doubt he can destroy something like Excalibur easily and like I said he's likely to his Invisible Air first anyhow. In any case she can blast him with Invisible Air like she did with True Assassin and Shiki can't do shit about that.

before he retconned Tsukihime, Nasu did say Arcueid had the powerlevel of 3 servants at only 30% power so I imagine her instincts should be just as sharp, if not sharper.

Why? He was talking about power, meaning strength, endurance, and agility. Instincts are something a person develops or something that's granted as a skill (like with Saber). Arcueid doesn't have any experience as a warrior. She's more of a predator. If anything, her strength is much more likely to dull her instincts because, in her own words, she can only be hurt and killed by a handful of things in the entire world.

I'll forever maintain that the reason TM is nowhere as good as it used to be is that Takeuchi is not over Nasu's shoulder 24/7 telling him to stop being a lazy fuck and to get to writing and slapping his shit when he writes something retarded anymore because he's too busy managing the company. Personally Saber is my favourite out of the three, but I can understand why some wouldn't care for her. Sometimes I wish Saber's route came last. The first route would be Shirou having the stupid fucked out of him by Sakura, the second would be his confrontation with Archer in UBW, and the last route would be him sticking by his ideals with Seibah and getting a last-episode type happy end after much suffering. Overall? Hard to say. Each of his works can be very inconsistent in quality in some areas. For instance KnK, Tsukihime, and even F/SN are extremely rough around the edges and quite amateur. But they offer a lot of ideas and unconventional story telling that makes them interesting precisely because it was done by an amateur like Nasu. His later works like Mahoyo and CCC are undoubtedly more refined, but I find that they also lost quite a bit of his bite in writing. Hell, if it weren't for the amazing visuals of Mahoyo I would say the VN would be kind of disappointing, and it is sort've is even with the visuals. It's a very refined disappointment, though; it's Nasu at his best in terms of effective pacing.

Personally I like Tsukihime and KnK the best because I prefer a smaller scale of story telling, with more intimate character drama and atmospheric urban settings. But I do feel as if Fate is comparatively more refined and has more interesting things going on thematically.

Where did even see us dismissing it? The reception in this thread was relatively positive. It's guaranteed to be far better than FGO, since it's the focused work of a single author, in a medium that's actually proper for storytelling.
The misgivings that people do have, of course, have to do with forcing the "Fate" brand and Servants onto it, which can pretty much be blamed on FGO's success too. But it's still better than nothing, those spin-offs like Case Files and Strange Fake, even though they're not the proper Nasu project everyone wants, have been my motivation to keep up for the past 3 years, and the only genuinely enjoyable content to me.

The very concept of using a gacha game as a story telling medium for any non-comedy franchise is a bad idea.

I don't even care if the lead writer says shit like "this is a story we can only tell over a long period of time".
you sign yourself up for constant writing. you're going to be on a tight schedule for the entire lifespan of the game, which will lead to you caring less and less about quality because the update needs to fucking launch. It's only a matter of time until you launch something that you'd really rather have rewriten from the ground up. so you hire a bunch of mysterious writers to help you out, and then it's only a matter of time until they fuck something up.

fuck it, let's assume you achieve the best case scenario. the gameplay is godlike and so is the story, shit, there's not a single person in the whole world that dislikes your game.
after a few years you told the whole story that you wanted to (and a fuckton of filler events).

what do you do now? the game is still live, people are still spending money and time on it. oh shit, I guess you have to come up with an entirely new plot that will last you a few more years. and then you have to keep on repeating that until the game literally bleeds money and shuts down.

I really hate episodic story telling. I want to read something that was meant to be enjoyed as one whole piece.

How would you adapt the ending of HA into an anime?
It's basically just both of them talking for an entire hour, the background doesn't even change until the very end and one of the only two characters on the scene doesn't even have an actual body able to emote
I don't think reducing the amount of dialogue would fix the problem either, most lines of dialogue need to be there to complete both character arcs so it would be very hard to reduce the amount of dialogue

I definitely disagree, Extra wasn't some massive success that ensured they would never try different things, it was clearly always overshadowed by FSN, and Nasu's other good works. Nobody would expect the Extra series to take over as a "main project" or substitute for proper VNs, in the way GO has.
If you wanna say it's where Nasu started being retarded from a lore/character standpoint, that I can agree to, but I was still able to enjoy Extra for what it was. I also think it used Servants and Masters very well. I can't say the same for FGO, which is just a black hole of worthless shit, on top of all it's done to damage TM and the fanbase.

Thanks for posting this info. This is just my wild theory but maybe Sion's appearance in Sialim's simulator is somewhat due to the Logos Re:Act. Remember in Case Files, Zepia said that he would have been a DAA in a group which has around 20 member in another timeline after used the Logos. Maybe the catalyst is Sialim herself and they're still twin sister, just another timeline

The manga is basically Arc's route with some added manga-only scenes. The VN has a lot more to it including Ciel's route and the far side (or is it near side?) routes, meaning Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku's routes, and those are very, very, different from the near side (or is it far side? forgive this baka) routes. I don't remember if the manga has any major spoilers for those routes but you should probably read the VN first if you're interested. I'd say the VN is definitely worth reading and the manga is pretty fun too.

I vastly prefer reading the manga for Arc's route. It's a better experience overall and Arcueid and Shiki have much better chemistry there than they ever had in the visual novel, mostly because Shiki is quite a different character from KT on and the manga uses that 'version' of him.

That being said it is still not quite as good as far side.
