I only read chuuni if there's something that really interests me about it, and Deep One has more that makes me not want to play it. (i.e. a sister heroine in a prominent spot)

Anyone excited for Deep One must not have read the trial, because it's so bad it's actually embarrassing. Pic related. Yeah, it goes on and on about eggs like this as if it were actually cool. Not to mention how often the plot/characters actually straight-up rip off F/SN - the author tweets about how inspired he was by F/SN (this game has been in development for like a decade) but in this case he basically just ripped it off.

Anyway, Deep One is lame as hell. Chuuni fans should focus more on the upcoming Blazing Soul. It's inspired by Masada works and the opening is basically a copy of Silverio Vendetta's, but at least it's not so lame the trial actually embarrassed the developer.

Didn't expect last thread to die so fast, time to repost my shilling

Going to toss out a recommendation for 墜落天使 ( https://vndb.org/v24327 ). The screenshots should say it all but in short it's a nice doujin title backed up with solid writing. The opening is extremely solid, give it an hour or two and you'll know if you like it. Unlike most doujin games it doesn't drag on forever either.

The plot isn't wildly inventive or anything, but it has good writing so it's still entertaining. Just look at the screenshots. I think a lot of the time - not talking about you in particular - people are driven to read something due to a hook, or some twist that sounds interesting, like "I reincarnated to another world - but as a slime!!!" kind of thing. While that's understandable, I think people are tragically losing sight of what really matters, which is the quality of the writing itself. A well-told, familiar story is often better than an inventive but poorly told story.

Anyway, point being, the plot is what it says on the tin, just with a few surprises of course.

I'm at fault here myself as well . I tried minor doujin games myself, but only those that are actually doing things that commercial games do not. If I want to read about some dude awakening special powers and fighting the typical shit with a bunch of girls around, I have 20 million choices. Not to say it can't be good, but there's no reason for me to go for doujin stuff, as those aren't better by being doujin or anything.
So if I go and experiment with doujin stuff, I choose things where commercial games have troubles doing what they do, often because it wouldn't work as an eroge or whatever. (i.e. male oriented female protag stuff) The backlog is long as it is, can't try everything.

Also, you don't even need to do several hour long heavy incest drama. Eroge started to ignore it almost completely to the point, it's seriously just "onii-chan" and a sad excuse for the "under the same roof" trope. That's an extreme. You can't even ignore it any more than it tends to be done by now. There's a middle-way. That's what I wrote last thread already. Which change from one extreme to the other? There's no need for that. A million options exist. But right now eroge prefer the absolute easiest one. But that's generally an issue with current eroge. For example, the less focused your story is, the easier it is to produce CG and script at the same time, saving you lot's of time. Just have a few generic ones. Done.

I'm sure this one was simply not articulated properly under your ESLese, but the idea of family members being a trope is pretty outlandish. In case you weren't aware of this because you haven't been interacting with your real life family, aside from a few biological shit, people who live in the same house ARE in fact just regular human beings who address each other with different formality.

Everything gets advertised in a "it's super good, trust me!!!" way. Disgaea gets advertised as a super strategic strategy rpg as well. If you ever played those, you know there's not much strategy in there. It's numbers and as such grinding that solve, not your mad strats. Not sure if there's much to get mad about though. Yeah, it IS false advertisement, but fuck, nothing gets correctly advertised these days. Nothing. You basically just get a text about what the dev would've liked the game to be. Is there a trick behind switching the install CD's for Deep One?

I torrented it from Nyaa and just started the install from the first disc. Once it asks me to change, I unmount the first one and mount disc 2 but that doesn't seem to progress the install because pressing "OK" at the prompt just causes the prompt to reappear.

What's the correct way to install it?

Yea I couldn't quite understand some things but in general the gameplay is more jrpgish+ikusa megami's system in the sense that you can now walk around the city talking to random characters and not only for triggering important events, find random items here and there, trigger mechanisms, blow out torches to make enemies disperse(in the very beginning), get a surprise attack on enemies from the back or have enemies get a surprise attack on you which I think messes up your formation and surrounds you from the sides and so on.

All in all I liked it as well, this trial was already way superior to Amayui's first chapter if you ask me. The MC and his best pal feel fresh and its just non stop adventure after adventure with the MC getting himself caught up in ridiculous shit after arriving in Gracesta, I especially liked the antagonist chick, aka best girl material.

I mean, in a day where translations get worse and worse, games getting sold officially with a machine translation and so on, why would you not be happy to just be able to play stuff in Japanese?
Like Atelier? It comes with JP option on PC for no more mistranslated trait and effects. And that's the case for quite a few other J-Rpgs as well. It's a great time to know Japanese. Probably the best time there is, with the likes of NISA still happily mistranslating everything and confusing the living shit out of the players playing their version. (at least their recent crawler also offers JP text on PC)

it's not autism. you can try it with any language pair, and any media. hell, go watch any movie with subs and compare the subs with the original text. you'll find that many lines just have something missing from the original, even if you can tell that the translator tried their best (which is not even necessarily the case with vn translations from what I hear). it's not even just puns and cultural stuff, sometimes the simplest sentences turn into awkward phrases in the other language

This actually exists, I've played one before but I forgot the name.

It was a linear VN where the MC kidnaps one heroine per chapter and locks them to his rape dungeon. I think the MC was a manager of a dorm and accidentally finds a rape dungeon in the basement.
