What do toy think the old gang is up to nowadays? Is Zun!bar dead? Did Sudo get turned into bacon? Is Currybutt still reporting threads en masse? Is Tohno-chan using his image-dump autism in a professional field now? Is Boof still chasing after his once underage but surely legal now neighbor? Did WASSHOI marry his Miyako dakimakura that his mother gifted him? Did Taiga get privately doxxed by a thirsty anon only to find that she was indeed a guy the whole time but still go after her? Is Sion still hiding as anon but derailing threads subtly every chance he gets?

Do you still hate Moot for changing the board from Japan/General to Otaku Culture? I do.

Not a lot. If you track people's posting habits through the archives (as I sometimes do) you rarely see a /jp/sie's posting habits last more than three years.

There are exceptions, but a lot of us either grow disinterested with otaku culture altogether or move on to social media and try to become creators.

The thing I was probably most frustrated about was probably when the rules changed away from "all otaku things welcome" or whatever the fuck it was but in retrospect it was probably for the better.

I used to really miss this stuff, but I don't anymore. The "board personalities" got worse and retroactively ruined them in my mind for everyone.

I have been here every day since 2008 and pioneered cuteposting as a way of encouraging /jp/ posters in life and fitness. Whenever you felt down or like you couldn't go on, I was always there, cheering you on.

I know a few /jp/ posters irl and most of them got jobs, got married and had successful lives despite their crippling autism, mostly in IT or finance jobs. Installing VNs and playing Touhou definitely prepared me for sysadmin work and the demands of married life. I hope many of the posters I've enjoyed talking with over the years are still about and they have found a way to live and not merely survive.

I understand everything about shut-in culture except piss bottles. There's only two reasons they make sense for me.

No, not at all. I came to /jp/ and had times that I look back on the fondest in my life, and it's probably because of my reverence of the past and that time that I haven't changed or been able to change much since then. At some point for whatever reason I stopped coming to /jp/. It was alright for a while, and then at some point along the way everything became awful, so I have recently made pilgrimage to /jp/ once again in hopes of reclaiming those happy times and reconnecting with the meaning of my NEET spirit. I'd stay like that forever if I could, if I could stop aging. I still try to, even while I continue aging. I won't forget what you taught me. The plan back then was always to go to Gensokyo one day, so that's always there.

People liked "meido" back then for a couple reasons.

1. Shitposting back then was something that came and went rather than a continuously rising tide choking the whole board, so inaction was endearing rather than fatal.
2. The most persistent posters back then hadn't decided that /jp/ as a whole should be at a general war with moderation.
3. Back then nobody (or at least most people) didn't know who the janitor actually was, which made it easier to anthropomorphize.

"meido" (the drawn janitor) was a meme AoC forced because he enjoyed the attention. He was completely incapable of keeping a low profile, it's one of the reasons he was a fucking terrible janitor.
if you go through the archives and search the filenames you will find out that it was literally just one person spamming this character, and asking drawfags to draw more of her. This was well documented back in the day. No one posts those images anymore because he was the only one spamming them

/jp/ is very diverse and even within the deeper roots you will find a path which separates all in some way with some roots being thinner or thicker than their bretheren.
Create OC if you wish and have the resources to do so but know that /jp/ is not what it used to be. Don't make a fool of yourself. Don't be an absolute faggot or an asinine crossboarding fag or a socialmediafag. If you are found using any shitty sites like twatter or faggit, you will be hung for your crimes.
