Even Trip and Irru have said that it's much shorter than they thought it would be.
If we compare the script sizes (these don't show the length of the game and are inflated because of how Tone Work's scripts work, but they are still comparable with each other) Hatsukoi is 161,631 lines and Hoshi Ori is 174,108 lines, it's really not that much longer. It's also possible to use the individual route script numbers to estimate how long the game is since we already have the common route patch which took people around 4 hours to complete.
Common Route: 4 hours
Rikka: 9 hours
Touko: 8 hours
Sora: 8 hours
Marika: 7 hours
Misa: 7 hours
Natsuki: 6 hours
Total: 49 hours
So it's still long, but nowhere near the giant 70+ hour game people are making it out to be.

I wouldn’t just extrapolate the time needed like that, but it’s true that the game is shorter than we expected.

The linecount in Siglus is inflated anyhow, because the nameboxname is also counted as a line.

Depends on what factors you're taking into account. Whether or not you like Rance, X is several orders of magnitude bigger than normal eroge. Not surprising considering PQCube got fucked massively on Mega Labrynth were they were told that they either had to censor the game and bring it over or not sell it at all. PQCube decided to not censor and I think they are raising funds to get it out on Steam. Also XSeed is doing the same with bringing over their games on Switch and Steam now over the PS4 version. After they had to censor Senran Kagura intimacy mode on PS4 itself.

This why PC is master race and why Consoles are walled gardens. At any point you can be cut off on a PC store but move it somewhere else. But on Consoles you are screwed. There is decensor patches, mods and ways around it.

Romanization, my man.
Chronos is a western name.
It's クロノス in Japanese because they don't have our godlike Roman(Latin) alphabet and it's shortened to クロ for the same reason.
However, since us westerners do use the Latin script, we can properly write Chronos and shorten it to Cro accordingly.

Those two base arguments don't mean shit because Japanese people suck at romanizing. They can't even spell the title of their games right half the time. I've had to email multiple devs about basic typos in their game's title/subtitles because they're so bad with romanization (suiside instead of suicide is a very common one). The long and short of it is that Japanese people (generally) don't know English and their romanizations tend to be half-assed or broken as a result. In translation, you can safely ignore them entirely.

Not interested in debating the rest of the post because I don't give a flying fuck about Kuro / Cro, but the base arguments in this image are garbo and won't convince anyone with at least half a brain in their skull.

That arguments only applies to romanization of Japanese words and names (or in your examples existing foreign words) That's why vndb (anidb) rules exist. This is a completely fictional nickname of a non-JP character. It's not like they wrote Kuronos as the full name.

If it's decided that the base romanization is unaccaptable, then there's the question of whether the new proposed romanization is better. Cro is clearly not.

Alright so, NekoNyan is announcing 2 other titles with SW release.

Hints so far:
>Both are by existing partners.
>Neither are Making*Lovers

Expectations:
-One is a SMEE title, since Fureraba did really well.
Since Making*Lovers got deconfirmed, it must be either Pure x Connect or Kanojo * Step.
It's also possible that NN picked up LoverAble's FanTL up, since the group doing it took down the trial patches from their site.
-It's possible, though unlikely, that the other one is a Yuzusoft title.
There's also that rumor going around about SP losing their yuzusoft licenses, but it sounds way too good to be true so don't expect that to actually happen

KoiKuma was released a bit over 10 hours ago, and has thus far peaked at 97 concurrent users and climbing. It may not become quite a Nekopara like hit, but it is going to be one of Sekai's best launches and has the potential to continue to climb through the weekend. One harder to answer question is what kind of conversion rate they are getting with people purchasing the R18 content. As an advantage of the Steam policy change, they have been able to not only offer the DLC on the main page, but also offer bundles containing the R18 DLC making it even more visible than just including a DLC on its own (as seen in the image).

Sanoba Witch was released an hour and a half ago, and currently it is skyrocketing out of the gate. It has already shot up to a quick peak of 99 concurrent users, and if this trend continues NekoNyan seems to have managed to nab themselves a sizable hit. NekoNyan's previous release of Fureraba peaked at just 69 concurrent users at launch, and that already was one of the more successful moege launches on Steam (and incidentally, it has shown signs of having a long tail, with daily peaks still often hitting double digits even a half a year after the Steam launch). In addition to its strong Steam performance, NekoNyan has released Sabona Witch on pretty much every platform aside from Denpa, and between their own site and Fakku/Nutaku/MG/Jast it should enjoy relatively strong sales off of Steam as well.

Kara no Shoujo on Steam has thus far peaked at 25 concurrent users, doing so 3 days after launch. While it obviously it isn't doing much in comparison to the success of Evenicle or these other two new releases, every sale on Steam is an unexpected bonus for the 7 year old game. The relatively active forum for its peak and a decent 21 reviews thus far are some indication it may continue to sell well in the long term, rather than just getting some sales at launch and disappearing.

Just as a quick note, between the successes of Evenicle and now KoiKuma and Sanoba Witch, it seems that Steam isn't quite as dead for VN sales as it had previously seen. All three of these titles are going to have very strong Steam launches, even compared to Steam craze launches. These recent strong launches on Steam would argue for a stronger set of new licenses next year if there happens to be some added confidence in new Steam releases. Of particular note, Riddle Joker is suddenly looking to be one of the most appealing license up for grabs (provided no one has it yet).

You have to remember that they are on Steam from day 1. Evenicle had more than two months before that to sell on MG's store. Same with Fureraba and NN putting it on every online store possible.
My completely uneducated guess with no basis at all is that overall Fureraba sold around 400-500 copies, Evenicle sold 2500-3000, Sanoba Witch will sell around 800, Koikuma will sell around 1500.

Who do you think you have to blame for that, Chuee? Oh wait. It was you and Akerou who put out one of the most embarrassing translations I've ever seen in this scene. Maybe next time you'll actually put in an effort?

And isn't it ironic that you're complaining about someone "stealing" a license from you, when Nekonyan did the same with Sekai's partner, Yuzusoft?

One of Sol Press's goals seem to be to try to bring the LN audience into the VN market. It will probably be hard to succeed, but with them going after both LNs and VNs it makes a lot of sense from a marketing perspective and they probably aren't wrong that the LN crowd would be a good target for new customers for VNs.

Xev has previously commented that DareSora in particular was the sort of episodic title that in theory could explicitly appeal to a LN reader due to the similarities between a short episodic VN and LN.

>> No.20146199

I have to wonder what they are announcing tonight that is heavy enough as far as R18 content goes that they opted not to mention it at their all ages panel.
