So i tried setting up a text hooker, but it wont show me any text from the actual text windows, this one seems to only activate during backlog/frames, and the rest are complete gibberish

Is there a common mistake i did, or are some VN's simply incompatible with ITH?

So some of you might know Kanshudo, it has this neat search that breaks kanji down into their components / parts

Unfortunately you can't easily use your own mnemonics on Kanshudo, so I've pretty much recreated Kanshudo in an excel sheet that allows me to paste in a Kanji and it creates a copy-pasteable anki snippet of a kanji's components (and the components' components) with my own mnemonics I have defined in said excel sheet

I'm thinking about polishing this up and turning it into an actual website, pretty much like kanshudo (kanji with component-trees) mixed with koohii (mnemonics are user created and you can vote on the top mnemonics so they can easily be used by others). Looking for feedback if anybody would actually be interested in such a website, otherwise I won't bother with the public community voting-functionality and keep it local to myself only

I think inidivudal kanji study like RTK is retarded, so I'm learning kanji in the order they actually appear in my reading material. If I don't know a kanji's components I learn those with the actual vocab (which is why I like Kanshudo's complete breakdown of a kanji, since it just lets me learn everything at once for a piece of vocab)

But I'm guessing I'm pretty unusual in that way of doing things

Guys can we please get back on topic? I've been learning Japanese (Nihongo) for 3 years now... 1 year self study and 2 years in uni. And i feel like the kanjis are just not sticking with me. What should I try to memorize them for more then a week? I now about 100-120 kanjis already and can read basic material in romanji and a little bit in hiragana. What can I do to improve my learning? I want to be fluid in Japanese in 5-10 years, is that a reasonable expectation? And is it even possible to read easy mangas by learning yourself (without taking a class)?

Man if I could go back in time I would have started with the VNCore deck. I'm almost done with it and I did the Tae kim deck, RTK deck, and 2k core already but the vncore was more helpful than those imo. I was watching a bunch of shit last night and was getting about 99% of it now. Very noticeable improvent from a 1250 card deck.

leyline is a pretty good VN, but if it's your first read then it's gonna be tough. unfortunately your first read is going to be tough no matter what. i think the issue with VNs for beginners is that it takes forever for them to become very interesting and you might burn out before then. have you tried reading kino no tabi? since each chapter is a self contained story, you get a complete experience each time you finish one. it's a little bit harder but it'll at least give you a full beginning, middle, and end each time and thus might lead to a more satisfying result. just don't get stuck on the prologue because it's a little philosophical and might be confusing.
