Anyone here run VNs + ITHVNR in Wine?

I'm having trouble with getting the hooked text to auto-copy to the clipboard. I've enabled the setting in ITHVNR, but it doesn't seem to work, though there doesn't seem to be any problem with the clipboard since when I manually highlight the text it auto-copies to my clipboard at that time.

Anyone know how to get it working properly?

(Reposting since I know there are some Linux users here successfully using ITHVNR, but I guess none of them saw my post before the last thread died.)

Rikaisama is dead unless you're on an outdated version of Firefox (very bad idea) or using Pale Meme (also a bad idea). Yomichan is also dead but works on new versions of Firefox, at least.

But there's no reason to use Yomichan since RikaiRebuilt (remake of Rikaisama for new Firefox versions) exists. If you experience a problem with it making your browser lag immediately after installing it like I did, just go to the add-on settings page and disable it and re-enable it and it should start to function normally after that. Not sure what the problem is or why that fixes it, but oh well.

Last fun drama I watched this year was The Confidenceman JP. Most dramas just make you want to quite Japanese entirely.

I have finished my 4th month of watching raw anime. I missed my goal of 23 hours, but I didn't feel like starting a new series just to watch 2 episodes. I didn't watch any anime for the first half of the month because I was marathoning an English show, and then I had trouble finding anything I actually wanted to watch. I've also mostly lost interest in passive listening. Only did 4.5 hours all month.

Tokyo Ravens - Too hard. I had no idea what was going on ever.
True Tears - Some nice nostalgia, but watching it made me angry again. Was bored and had to force my way through it.
Valvrave - Really fun to rewatch. I forgot most of what happened so everything was a surprise again. Similar to other shows I've been watching, I can understand a lot, but most military/politic stuff goes over my head.
Grimgar - I love this show. I almost dropped it because the first episode has a lot of talking I didn't understand, but I knew it would be better later.

This was my first time watching series that didn't have any Japanese subs on kitsunekko (Valvrave and True Tears). It was very irritating not being able to look up what was being said, but it was also freeing in a way because I wasn't constantly pausing to look at the sub file. Overall I think I still prefer to have subs available, but I won't let a lack of subs prevent me from watching something I really want to.

As usual, I don't really notice much improvement. I need to start reading more. On average I do about 45 minutes of listening per day and 45 minutes of Anki writing cards. If I could add 30-45 minutes of reading I think I'd be doing much better. This month I am planning on watching Magi. I hope I like it because that would almost get me to my monthly goal by itself. That's all for now, I'll be back again next month with another update.

I watched 9 episodes raw for a month back in June but it was too boring to keep up since I couldn't understand anything (and still can't). I lowered it to 1 hour a day for a month, took a break for a month, then went back up to 6 episodes a day and have maintained that for a month. Why exactly aren't you suppose to use anki? I use to be an anki drone for a year, then I did a 180 and only read for 2 months without any anki. I can confidently say that anki is good to use.
In anki I could learn 20 new words a day, and I'm sure I'm near the bottom of the spectrum and most people could learn more than that. With reading, I might see 20 new words a day but I don't learn them. Reading has been said to teach you more words, just more slowly, so they add up over time but you don't see such quick results as with anki. It's also said that reading teaches you how to actually use the words with context, as well as obviously teaching you grammar.
This is all true, but the facts remain: In a month I could learn several hundred words in anki, in 2 months of only reading I've seen 1300 new words but only learned 40.
I think the people who say to read and use anki are the ones in the right. How you use anki is up to you, you can either import the words you see in texts or learn a JLPT or core deck separately (when you see them in context it'll just click).

I see literally nothing wrong with using anki as long as it's not your only resource.

I figure learning how to read words is the most important thing as it's probably impossible to actually learn what a word means just by drilling some definition of it on a flashcard. I still think the definition should be on the card, but I feel like it's a waste of time to test yourself on it and try to memorize it when learning what words actually mean is probably best left to exposure.

Well, "beginner" is maybe an unfortunate expression but it is true that I'm still far away from the level I want to be at. My reading speed is kind of extremely slow. Around 260 days have passed since I've started consuming native media, before that I spend quite some time being an anki drone memorizing RtK, core6k and DoJG. In total just short of 2 years.

How is your listening though? That's probably why you feel like a beginner. You need more immersive listening. I've worked quiet a bit on my listening, pitch and speach, among the things you did too like rtk and core (although I did 2k core, taekim and vn core). I feel about intermediate level myself. Google's Tesseract OCR engine sucks more than I expected when it comes to Japanese. I had hoped to make an improved version of Kanjitomo.

I wish there was an improved version of KanjiTomo out there. It seems like KanjiTomo doesn't have the ability to read quite a lot of less common kanji, and it also tends to suck at reading okurigana which it frequently misinterprets as kanji.

In terms of messing with modes and parameters, the KanjiTomo config file might be worth a look as a reference. E.g.

kino no tabi vol 1 was the first ln I read. I can not remember how long the chapters tend to be but 2 chapters a day is pretty good reading speed.

I personally did not really like kino no tabi as i prefer first person story telling and dont really like its episodic nature.

I have currently read 11 volumes of LNs now and plan to read toradora as I already have all 10 volumes on my kindle. Just need to finish up the current series.

Honestly anytime you start a new light novel the vocab can be a little difficult at the begging before you get used to the others writing style. Overall kino no tabi is not that difficult but if you are just starting and have not consumed much manga and eroge yet I would probably recommend to start with some text hookable eroge or something like yotsubato. hope this helps

the vocab is pretty light. each chapter has a main motif or focus, so it'll have a few key vocab words that keep popping up throughout the same chapter. but much like >>20005364 said, pretty much every new franchise or author you pick from will give you a ton of new vocab since everyone writes things a little differently. like i read ゼロの使い魔 after i read the first volume of キノ and the first few chapters were a struggle with a ton of unfamiliar words, but it was pretty comfortable by the latter half and i finished the last couple chapters in one sitting.

Also, if you have a smartphone you could get the Anki app on your phone and do your reps with that. Sync it with your desktop version and make sure your phone is fully charged before the electricity goes out.
