They're not that bad, but they're pretty terrible, to the point where I have difficulty fapping. I suspect his translation is just cleaning up the machine translation. He's apparently going to pay a proofreader or something? I won't criticize, though, it's better than not having them. Particularly if people are paying him, quality may improve.

Black Cyc games, anyway. Cyc games on the whole are mediocre, as are White Cyc titles etc.

Black Cyc titles I've played, ordered best to worst:

- MinDead Blood

Well, there's a number of factors. As a bit of background, the reason we like Black Cyc is because of these guys: http://www.monometa.com/meido_top.htm (artist and writer). As they're doing stuff under their own doujin group now, and no longer working for Black Cyc, there really isn't any reason for me to care about Black Cyc any more.

Back to Before Dawn Daybreak, it's Black Cyc's last title with that scenario writer, and there's substantial evidence pointing to the fact that his contribution was far less substantial compared to his previous games. The story simply isn't written as well. Good concept, but the scenario doesn't carry it. The thing about Black Cyc games is that they constantly awe and surprise you-- Before Dawn Daybreak didn't.

While it's not a bad game by any means, the Black Cyc game I liked the second least (Yami no Koe) I found really enjoyable as well, so it was mostly a matter of failing to meet the high expectations I have for anything with the Black Cyc name attached.

Think of R.U.R.U.R, but an insult game, I suppose. Funnily enough, R.U.R.U.R and Mugen Kairou share scenario writers, so it's not that strange a comparison.

It's fascinating to play through, I found, but whether or not it's your thing, Mugen Kairou is FAR from generic. I've really never played anything quite like it.
