It's been a few months, how do I pick it back up? I'm not gonna go though rtk again. I may skim tae kim once, but I've totally forgotten a lot of the words I learned from mining. Just wipe my deck and start mining fresh?

now i just consume native material daily and am working through the jlpt tango n5 decks. im having to suspend a lot of cards becuase reviewing them would be pointless.

That's true with vocabulary as well. Studying kanji, vocabulary and grammar in pseudo-isolation (pre-made lists) has some value as it raises your potential of comprehending things during the more import immersion (in kanji's case, reading immersion).

Well, I hit 30 consecutive days after resetting my mining deck after a 6 month break. With that plus reading everyday, it really feels like my studies are back on track. I changed my settings so I have more intervals on new cards the first day, that plus lots of reading has made anki a lot easier. Also, treating the program as a way to reinforce readings while getting meaning through context has been amazing and makes it less stressful and even a bit fun. ~15 minutes per day and I got through 1200 new cards with half already matured, although a lot of those have become very familiar to me. I'll probably slow down to 20-30 new cards a day from now on, but I'm really glad I did this and want to continue.

if you really want to experience "temporary fluency", do FOCUSED audiovisual immersion with anime or very commentary-heavy 実況 for a solid ten hours straight instead. the rewiring effect it'll have on your brain will be so severe that it'll make you FEEL fluent for a good hour, before it wears off and you realize it was just an illusion, however unlike the flashcards it'll actually do you some good in the long run.
