To qualify as an otaku, you have to have a go beyond enjoying things and into obsessing over things. So if you watched some anime or played a few VNs or know some Touhou memes, you don't qualify. You're just a general geek.

I'm a mecha, galge (usually non-ero), JRPG, fighting game, expert-level anime, and shit-tier* manga nerd. (You can insert otaku if you like. I've personally fallen out favor with the word.) I'm well-rounded in my tastes.

I'm also really big into gunpla, and I'm working on expanding my garage kit, fig, and anime collectibles collection. I'm also a sucker for limited-edition items.

*Thus far, I've only read JJBA and Neuro in manga form. I should get into it more.

I'm an anime otaku for the most part. I've seen 250+ animu and watch everything from each new season. My favorite anime are currently Legend of Galactic Heroes, Giant Robo, Monster, Princess Tutu, and Marimite.

I'm also a video game soundtrack otaku, and have listened to everything written by Sakimoto, Sakuraba, Mitsuda, Hamauzu, Hamaguchi, Uematsu, Yoko Kanno, etc. I particularly enjoy the piano arrangements, and play around 40 pieces from the Final Fantasy piano collections.

I also enjoy manga, VNs, shmups, and just the general vidya, but I don't have enough expertise in those to really call myself an otaku.

I don't really have much of a career plan, perhaps move to the USA someday and work there; living in Japan is just one big pipe dream, not to mention the language can be annoying sometimes.
