To tell the truth, my story is more depressing. I was a common anime otaku (like the majority of the guys at this board) and all music I listened was anime openings, theme songs and endings. I realized that it would be pretty lame to answer "I listen to anime music" when asked about the music I liked, so I decided to dig some J-pop, as most anime music was basically J-pop. I downloaded and listened to a lot, Hamasaki, Utada, BoA, Day After Tomorrow, Kotoko, etc. but the only artist that caught my attention me was Morning Musume (with the Sakura Mankai single + PV, Say Yeah! -Motto Miracle Night- is very catchy) so I downloaded the 2 Best compilations, loaded them on my Mp3 and continued my life.
About half a year ago I heard the (old) news that there were 2 Chinese girls added to the group and I went WTF?! Consequently I started investigating the group and now you have me here namefagging in your /jp/ and fagging up the whole board with this 3D PIG DISGUSTING fagottry.

I heard their music now and then on various weeaboo radio stations since around 2000-1, but didn't pay much attention until I saw the Ayaka English Lesson videos around 2005 or so. That one struck a chord, and from there I went on to the Utaban appearances and the Mechaike specials sealed the deal. Then I realized all the videos I was watching were years old by then and many of the members in them had long since retired. Now they all look like kids even if they're over 20. Golden era had a mix of personalities, ages and maturity. It created a kind of "family". With Yuko you lost the grand matriarch to watch over the group. With Kei and to a lesser extent Ogawa you lost the "auntie" types to be the butt of jokes. With Yaguchi you lost the firebrand. With Goto you lost massive sex appeal. With Yossie you lost the tomboy.

What's left? A group of pleasant, over polished moeblobs with no obvious juniors or seniors who always restrain their personalities.

I have another view about that. True, China has one of the highest piracy rates in the whole world, people are selling pirate copies of nearly everything and you can find them easily (they're in plain sight, not some underground secret place).
But still I think people would buy official merchandise, well at least I would. Being a serious fan (or wota) you would support them any way you can. Hell, I've never bought any original software (well, some exceptions), mostly because of the license fees which are too high (mind you, I live in Arentina, the peso is devaluated roughly 3:1 to the USD and the license is still in dollars).
However, I'm seriously thinking of importing the All Singles Complete, and if I can, Resonant Blue. I feel that I have to "repay" the group in a way I can, and the least I could do is to buy the CDs to demonstrate my support, even knowing that most of the profit goes to UFA.
But in the end that's just me, and I don't doubt that most people in China wouldn't go further than download a pirated single but I still hope that at least some could support them.

I am truly disappointed by this PV. Forget the expensive prop set, forget the special effects, but is it so hard to give everyone some screen time? And some camera variations?
It's just Ai-Reina, with some Koharu and Gaki-Kame. Oh, and 1 second of Sayu closeup. 8th gen are just backdancers.

UFA accepted that the head in the picture indeed is Eri but does not say anything about the article. But if you look closely, the guy's head is way bigger than Eri's, even taking into account the minimal depth distortion. Conclusion: Probably shopped, like the purikura shot (it is Sayu in the picture, handwritings match).
Some people said that Eri worked/helped in some mental institution (or something of that sort) and that's where the pic was taken. The claim is pseudo-backed by the position of the guy in the picture (the head), which is not so natural when you're taking a pic with your supposed girlfriend.
Also, the having Eri in that pic does not clear up the contradictions in the article (Eri's transfer out of High School, Eri's first concert, Eri's hairstyle and color, etc.)

Of course there are more explanations and stuff that the wotas came up with, but as the thread got filled with trolls (spamming DIE DIE DIE seventy times in 50 posts, posting AA of Eri having hawt secks with okazaki and general assorted trolling) I stopped reading.

tl;dr: It's fake.
