SDM is a more interesting group. Then again, EoSD has been out for quite a bit longer, so there has been more time for us to ponder about what goes on behind closed doors.

However, in terms of diversity, Eientei isn't as complete as SDM is. There's someone for absolutely everyone there, probably two. Age, ethnicity (well, European, Chinese, Japanese, and possibly Lunarian too), physical features, demeanor, etc. No matter what you like, there's probably someone who fits.

What does Eientei have? Rabbits, rabbits, a healthy nurse, and a NEET.

Not really. SDM has China, Sakuya and Patchy, all of which are good, likable characters.

The only thing dragging down the SDM are the vampires. Remilia is one of the shittiest characters in all the ZUNiverse and Flandre isn't much better.

At best, SDM's maids are the stage 5 fairies. (At worst, they're the stage 3 fairies playing with China.) They do NOT get the benefit of Daiyousei or Cirno.

Oh, no big reason. Just details, like her personality and looks, and pretty much everything about her really. Almost any character in the extended Zuniverse has been at some point or another written in some doujin in a way that made me like her at least a little bit, but not Remilia. She's just an annoying little shit full of herself, without a single redeeming trait in sight. Her character design is uninspired and unattractive, her powers so vague that most people just go "fuck it, let's have her claw stuff".

Flandre is only better because her boss theme is so awesome and because Felis Ovum wrote a kickass doujin about her.
