Did you know that phylacteries are actually quite easy to break? You could put one in a diamond and that gem would become brittle enough to smash with a hammer.

So here's the deal Lich, I am now the master and you are the loyal servant. Otherwise I'm going to break your eternity into a million little pieces.

First order of business, cast a gease upon yourself to obey my commands or I'll break the phylactery.

Second order of business, get into bed and warm yourself up, polymorph if you have to. I'll be along in a second.

Actually, I don't think he can. The lich's 'life' would be in the phylactery, and the only way to kill a lich would be to destroy the phylactery.

He might be able to end a lich's current form, but to kill the lich itself he'd need to destroy the phylactery. In contrast, Roa didn't have a phylactery, so he was able to get killed.
