I blame her for the horror of experiencing full-body naked skin-ship with one of my brothers.
I was playing HSiFS in the dream before it happened, I was playing it in a bed I guess and he got excited at how good I was doing or something and got in naked with me(a pretty soft, kinda fluffy, and absolutely mind-wrenchingly awful feeling), I got out right away in panic mode and I saw Okina on the other side of the room right after, lunging at her, though she disappeared. I then swung a pickaxe/mallet I picked up from outside the door down on my brother's head several times to try and shut up his unending gay verbal assault. After three times it very satisfyingly crashed through his cranium and killed him, but somehow even this did not shut him up. I ran outside and jumped about shouting at the sky for Okina to never again give me a dream this terrible before waking up.
Everything my brother was saying was actually what Junko was saying though(東方入眠抄16 じゅんじょうれじすたんす), Junko's pure loving words were converted into garbage, kind of like a man dreaming of a demon sitting on him when its a cat in reality. But in any case, was this an attempt by Okina to poison my love for Junko? Perhaps, perhaps not, but being associated with shit like this has brought her down in my view and can only be remedied by her appearing a really, really, nice dream(do it Okina!)

Maybe. You could say the same about being Yukari's shikigami, considering how Ran likely willingly submitted. In both cases, there's enough of a wiggle room to allow for mistreatment, considering Okina outright talks about returning Mai and Satono their humanity if Marisa takes the job.

And that doesn't really change the point much. Okina is way too similiar to a prominent character introduced a whooping 14 years before, in personality, position and ability for me to accept her as remotely original. At least Kasen is different from Yukari as night and day.

Okina went around with an entire incident, basically using "recruiting servants" as a cover. Yukari has never been so insistent on making servants, and Okina only wants Marisa now, anyway after she proved herself.

The general different between Okina and Yukari is that she straight up gives Ran a beating if she isn't in sync. As far as we know, Okina doesn't do that and straight up lets her servants have personalities.

Okina is pretty different from Yukari in personality, she's bombastic and traditionally "godly", likes it when people have a good sense of humor and although she's a "secret god" who acts in the shadows using her servants, she doesn't make too much of plots. Her interventions being pretty much willpower and magic boosts to already existing peacekeepers so that they actually succeed. She's just kind of there, doing her thing with minimal intervention, acting more like a part of fate.

Meanwhile, it's implied that Yukari (by Kasen's own account anyway, her dream self) is basically afraid of straight up fighting (unless she has an overwhelming advantage) and likes to sit back and watch the pieces go together. Yukari generally appears to be more sinister, it's implied she brings "food" into Gensokyo and so forth. She lies often and is incredibly unpredictable.

They have similar abilities in some ways, I agree, but Okina's has some pretty different details. She can draw power from you via her backdoors, she can draw out your willpower, vitality, make you into a youkai (under the correct circumstances I guess) and so on. Making portals is their most similar application.

And we still don't know much about her, she's a god of a huge number of things for example. Supposedly being one of the disabled too, which might mean she takes pity on the disabled which is something I wouldn't imagine Yukari doing. Her only appearance in WaHH (which is her single non-cameo appearance outside of the games) has her way more social and less conniving than Yukari has been in the past despite some of the statements she made.

If you make a point that recruiting a servant wasn't her end goal and only a side effect of a power show, that's hardly being insistent either.

Not having a say in the matter of remaining human, losing memories and being only released when there's a replacement for you is bad enough. Especially considering she initially wanted to recruit Marisa against her will.

Mai and Satono's blind obedience also raises some red flags and similiarities to shikigami.
Hell, the plot of the game could have been enacted by Yukari herself instead easily, with her playing around with borders of seasons and trying to recruit a new shikigami while testing Gensokyo's response to the crisis.

She implies to Aya that her godly titles are just lies to conceal her true nature. Fittingly, as a god of being hidden, her real apperance is exactly the same as the public one.

I do give you that she goes for a far more hands-on approach than Yukari. Which comes with the territory of gods needing faith, I suppose.

Because the player won the fight. That was literally the only reason. One assumes that if Maria lost the battle that she would be mind controlled.
