I loved it.

I only have few complaints, which is the lack of Illya scenes and the Cu and CA fight. What they should have done is make the fight like it was in the VN, or just have it be as short, while giving the rest of that screentime to the Illya and Shirou scenes.

I wonder how they'll handle it in the second movie, because the impression I'm getting is that Shirou and Illya aren't meeting at all. Which leads to a bad end, so it can't be that.

Oh, another complaint is the Medea and Kuzuki scene. I prefer the manga version, where Zouken fucked Kuzuki up and made Caster kill him by accident. Then Saber and Shirou come by, Caster creates a giant dragon tooth warrior and gets bodied by Saber. As opposed to Cursed Arm killing them both by himself. Starting to think that whoever made the movie really likes Cursed Arm.

Obviously I loved all the Sakura fluff scenes, the general look of everything. The soundtrack was nice, could have used even one VN remix instead of trying to sound like Zero's soundtrack, but whatever. I'm excited for the second movie, because that's where all my favorite scenes happen. I really hope they don't fuck it up.

I got into the series at around 16/17 (not sure when exactly other than it was during the summer and since my birthday is in the summer I can not be certain). I found a torrent for the fate/stay night VN on demonoid (before you call fake and gay, yes, I know they didn't allow 18+ content but the guy used the excuse of it being artistic nudity and the mods probably didn't care since it isn't a nukige so he got away with it) when trying to find one for the anime ( I genuinely didn't even know that it was a VN first).
To be honest, I'm kind of surprised it took me so long to get into type moon materia. I think it has to do with the fact that growing up no one I knew was into any /jp/ material or even any /a/ matieral beyond pop "nerd culture". It probably did and didn't help that my highschool didn't have an anime club and I didn't know jack shit about any websites where I could find out more (I found 4chan entirely by accident for example). My first experience with VNs was from a thread about yume mirru kusuri on /v/ (it was a different era when such things were more openly discussed on 4chan). It feels odd, but I think being isolated from such media (this was me trying to get into anime mind you) growing up prevented me from becoming a secondary and having the mindset of "why bother with a VN when there is an anime/manga" that most people seem to have. By the way though, my first VN was not F/SN but "Let's meow meow".

I was 14 when I was first introduced to TM. I read Tsukihime around that time but only got into reading FSN when I was 16. Honestly speaking, reading Tsukihime is one of my most cherished moments of my teenage years (it's also one of the only ones)

It is pretty depressing how many secondaries don't even bother with the source material. In addition to some infamous cases of adaptations only being made for advertisements and the tsukihime anime (which doesn't exist) I've seen sad souls who went truly far into the pits of perdition and instead of reading the manga decided to watch the recent berserk anime.

I don't know what exactly it is about VNs but for some reason secondaries, even ones who aren't "normies" for lack of a better term, refuse to play them aside from a few of the more /v/ ones (If you count games like "Phoenix Wirght" as VNs). They always make the same excuses too, such as it being "too much effort" or that "the adaptation is good enough".

I've noticed that there are also an increasing number of Fate (not type moon since these people don't even know anything else Nasu has made) fans who are extreme secondaries that haven't even played any of the Extra games, let alone F/SN, and it is probably because (in addition to apocrypha) right now people are pushing otaku culture into pop-culture, so you just get the people who follow trends yet lack real pasison in something. You notice this with people talking about how they don't have a waifu but a "waifu harem" or how they change waifus with each new season of anime, while mocking the jpsies who genuinely have a waifu and post in the valentines day threads. One other thing you will notice is the amount of people who buy dakis just to take photo shoots and joke about it, but will mock the people who actually sleep and "sleep" with their dakis. Thankfully the onahole, fumo, and kig threads help to keep those people from taking residence in /jp/.

Funny enough, every single Astolfo-fag I've dealt with is a tertiary, openly admiting that they either never watched the anime (let alone even touched the manga) or have only seen a few epsidoes and aren't even invested enough into the series to play GO. I've seen this kind of behavior before, but I've never really seen it where the overwhelming majority of fans are like that, if that makes sense.

Hope Illya gets more focus on the second movie adaptation, I haven't watched the first one cause I'm waiting for all of them to be out but general consensus is that Sakura stole most of the spotlight.

They need to show more Illya otherwise secondaries just won't get the same kind of feels from the "I'm the older sister so I must protect my little brother" scene

Nah, I get that it's not for everyone, and unlike that guy I realize why some people would watch an anime adaptation because they know they'll never bother with a VN. However, if you go in with the right mindset, a VN can be a ton of fun, and I personally refuse to watch/read any VN adaptations before the source.

I'm also not talking about Dead Apostle Ancestor Yumizuka Satsuki with the true Mystical Eyes of Death Perception as used by Ryougi Shiki (which is capable of destroying things on a conceptual level and warping the fabric of reality), her original and improved Reality Marble (which grant her not only the ability to take away mana from her surroundings but can use said mana to summon any servant she wishes from the Throne of Heroes and create clones of herself while also being able to use it to create a similar phenomena as TATARI) while possessing the soul and memories of Michael Roa Valdamjong, capable of using Jewish Kabbalah magick and as such can manipulate and create electricity (and by extension energy in general) on an infinite scale (so powerful it can create new universes), still using her great grappling abilities(capable of spamage in the fightan gaems) and true magic (all of them), a route (which she obtained from an alternate universe where Nasu wasn't such a fucking hack), unlimited command seals which allow her to control ANYONE, with Tohno SHIKI’s DNA that allows her to bleed on people, her four Gilgamesh Clones guarding her and nine Neco-Arcs floating behind her AFTER she absorbed all 666 beasts from Nrvnqsr Chaos, hijacked Berserker's God Hand, cast Unlimited Blade Works so she'll be able to swordspam everyone and used the 2nd magic to summon an unlimited number of herself like Demonbane.

I just finished reading tsukihime
It honestly wasn't that good
The characters were nice and all but the repetitive music and scenes across multiple routes kinda ruin the pacing
For a first attempt it was pretty solid but I wouldn't rate it very highly
Turns out Nasu can only write decent characters and good nightime atmospheres
Doubt the fandiscs, Melty Blood or anything he ever does will top HA for me

I agree that he likely hasn't lost writing talent, but I am also of the opinion that he is incapable of writing anything these days without concessions to the mainstream, as practically everything written in the last 5, no, 7 years has been made with secondaries in mind; he always approaches content with a "How do I make this approachable for the audience that doesn't give a shit about the rest of my works?" attitude. This is constantly reflected in his interviews and content. I mostly expect Tsukihime R -- in the unlikely case that it comes out within the next 5 years -- will probably be technically superior to its predecessor in the sense that the awful repetition, over-exposition, and general non-pacing will be stripped, but I also get the feeling that most of the bite will be taken out of it as well. It will be a smooth, chocolate experience, and I'm not sure if that's what I want from Tsukihime. That's just my general feeling based on his writings these last few years, though. I agree, though, that a lot of artists tend to do better with the redesigns than Takeuchi does, he's just a poor artist. That being said I don't think even the most persuasive artist could probably convince me to let go of Arc's old, voluminous vent-y hair. That's probably the biggest killer for me in the redesign aside from the superfluous necklace (which is just ugly).

Finally finished the KnK 6 part of the novels.
I still don't think it's in the realm of 5 or 7, but the movie really gutted a lot of what made it good. They turned Misaya Oji and her fairies into a big dumb final boss fight when that's barely a thing in the book. They pretty much cut everything interesting about God's Word and even his fucking death scene. And the context for the scene where young Mikya and Azaka look up at the sky is totally missing, though it does look very pretty in the movie.

Another thing that was worth reading was Lio's full story of how he killed his first person, what went down before he ate that corpse, it was the kind of super creepy scene that Nasu is excellent at.
Also that "poem" at the start of part 7 that Shiki reads in the movie's PV almost made me tear up again.

Her character being sympathetic is reliant on her finding a good person/Master/lover in Kuzuki and wanting to spend her days with him, but Kuzuki is so fucking boring and uninteresting, that her relationship with him falls flat. That's 1.

2 is the fact that she's frequently hyped up as an AOG magus, but she only beam spams and summons dragon tooth warriors and isn't really a good threat. Maybe if she could summon the dragon from the golden fleece, then she'd be good. I like that she's good enough to fuck with the command spell system and summon her own servant. Or how she used Gilles' leftover nightmare/other-world energy to create a barrier to trap Rin and Shirou in (even though that entire scene was stupid as fuck).

I do like Medea, but I think she and her relationship with Kuzuki could have been done way better.

It's cool.
I really like how naturally Lio's train of thought jumps to "I can't eat a whole body in one night, so I should start by drinking his blood, that's easy!", and then tries that until his throat gets dry/sticky as fuck and realizes he can't just gulp down litres of blood like it's water.
A bit of the classic Nasu I loved that I hadn't read yet, it was a good experience.
