I wasn't complaining about their being comedy, but about there being aspects of the story that the author either didn't think about or deliberately ignored, and that the characters thus illogically ignore even though they're important issues. For example in 2048, the practicality of Aqua being with Daigo is never addressed, but rather just taken as a given by everyone involved. Daigo however is a middle aged man with a wife and children. But everyone conveniently ignores that, with Aries telling Aqua to just replace Akari and Aqua considering that a possible course of action. I was really baffled the entire time I was reading that section. Daigo being involved with Aoi in some capacity made sense since it would be through the paradigm of father/daughter but him ever having anything to do with Aqua romantically seemed completely ridiculous the entire time.

I'm not saying he's the picture of marital fidelity, but there's a difference between him running off to try and find out the truth about whether the woman he was in love was actually dead, and him abandoning his wife and children to hook up with some teenage girl, don't you think? He was clearly never going to do the latter, but all the characters continually treat it as an actual possibility and never consider the practicality of it. And they certainly knew about it, as Aries did research on him and Aqua has Akari's memories which included a flashback of him talking about his family.

That's kinda one of the themes Himawari explores, though. How 'bias' and legacy can affect how one is perceived by others.
Daigo is never perceived as a bad person with the exception of Ginga. But if you think about everything that he's done, you can see how much of a piece of shit he is. The same can be said about Souichirou for example, someone who made experiments on people without their consent, couldn't bear his sins anymore (but didn't stop), put Aqua's life in risk because he didn't have the guts to shut down the project himself, and ended up committing a glorified suicide in which he took 500 lives with him. But nobody blamed him, people saw him as a victim.
No character in Himawari is a saint, they're extremely morally grey. The only two who were perfect, ended up 'crazy'.

Oh, I agree that Daigo is not a good person. I'm just talking about the behavior of the characters. It's not they think, "Maybe Daigo would be willing to do that." It's that they never even consider it to be an issue at all, because the writer is choosing to ignore it. It's like I was saying, there's a good story there that's buried underneath a bunch of dumb shit. Hell, just Aqua being older and not like 12 in the 2048 part would have made it at least more sensible, both regarding Daigo's behavior and the reader being able to take her emotions seriously.

Really, the only way I realistically see Sekai fixing Maitetsu is because Fakku is on their ass. If they were distributing it like everything else they would have just ignored the complaints and sat on their hands. But it'll still take time. I mean, Dovac even said he was going to take this week to look into it and try to get the problems fixed, but then he backtracked on that and decided to go to AX anyway, out of spite. I imagine it will likely be another few weeks at the least until they do anything about it, and that's being optimisitc.

Well, we had confirmation about fixes for all the titles I mentioned as well, but still nothing. Anyway, I agree that they're more inclined to actually do it with Fakku on their ass, but like I said we're still probably looking at a few weeks at best.

I think you're kinda missing the point. People didn't point out Daigo's creepy behavior because they were the victim and romanticize what happened (Aqua), didn't really care about it and think that being "loved" is more than enough (Aries), tried to do something (Akira), or just didn't know anything. It is supposed to be fucked up and creepy, most of Himawari is like that. The story never points it out because it's about different viewpoints of different people. Take Akira for example, in the story he's treated as a villain and bad because that's how the protagonists perceive him, but in the last route Youichi has no reason to dislike him, so he perceives him as a weird guy who tried his best to help his daughter. Or even Souichirou, the story never outright tells you he's bad until the last lightnovel story.

Basically these. While it probably isn't the intent of the person who made the patch, what they're doing is actively supporting Sekai Project's business by fixing their release for them, and continuing to provide further incentive for SP to not care about the quality of their releases. The patch is nice to have since it likely won't be fixed by SP for weeks, but it's detrimental in the long term.

Why wouldn't you do that anyway? Always read the VN first if possible, because the anime adaptation is almost always guaranteed to be bad. The only exception is Clannad, which had an adaptation so good that it's better than the VN, and that will probably never happen again.

I think you've hit on something important. When I was reading it, I certainly viewed Daigo as a creepy fuck and started to dislike him intensely. I think I didn't give the writer enough credit to think that this was the reaction that I was supposed to have. Rather I thought that this was his attempt at your normal VN sexual harassment comedy and that I was intended to just find it funny. Thus making me think the writing was bad. I'm still not sure that I was wrong about that, though. If this was a story in a normal medium, like a book, I would agree that I was wrong, but in the context of being an eroge (originally) I'm not sure.

This conversation has kind of made me want to reread the game with some of this in mind and see if my feelings about it change. Anyway, the high point of it for me was definitely Aqua's route. Asuka's route at the end was a bit of a letdown. I'm 28 so the whole "I gotta grow up!" stuff didn't make me feel very much. The best part about that route was Akira.

I read the same thing and I found it clear enough. The changes significantly diminished the whole concept of sacrifice being necessary to achieve change and particularly change for the better, which the original hammers in all throughout. Instead of Kotarou ending up sacrificing himself at the end to secure a worthwhile future for humanity as he did in the original (and that future was also built on the sacrifices of many others before him), you just get a happy end where Kotarou doesn't have to be a tree and gets to be with everyone anyway because he's the hero and bittersweet endings aren't as marketable.

Denpa seems to have released I Walk Among Zombies along side their AX panel, although they don't seem to have mentioned that in their social media (their Twitter only includes an image of volume 2). A stealth release during a panel makes sense for some larger companies, but Denpa's biggest weakness is visibility of the platform itself and a stealth release with poor presentation in even through the limited PR channels that Denpa itself has isn't likely to accomplish much in the short term.

I'm not expecting much from Sekai myself. I personally think that MG will have at least one or 2 noticeable releases especially if one of the announcements is Alicesoft related. Honestly, for me, an Alicesoft announcement is enough to win AX (even if we got a milf game rather than Galzoo). Sekai/Denpa's announcements have been meh at best, and JAST is only good if you're a fujoshi. All Frontwing showed off was a popular DL site game. It would be funny if the twitter's mention of Type-Moon merch was an actual indication that MG got Fate/Stay Night, thus winning all AX's past and future (at least for some people), but I wouldn't bet on it.

There seem to be rumors of luckydog1, but I think Otakon is more likely for that announcement. I personally think that any BL, otome, yuri, and large nukige MG plans to announce will be saved for Otakon. Rance too if only because all previous Rance announcements have been done at Otakon.

The new announcements are most likely to be moege, but I suppose Softhouse chara is always a vague possibility. I doubt Eushully will ever go to the West, but we didn't Key would either so who knows.

A Koihime pickup could make business sense for MangaGamer provided that they put it on Steam considering the success that other gameplay titles have found on Steam. I think it's just too expensive.
The original English Koihime release had the voices removed until they sold 2000 copies of it.
Considering that the base price is 45$, that's 90k $ for the VAs alone if we go by that logic.

Now I don't know how much you know about the newer Shin Koihime † Musou series, but they have around 78 characters, all of them voiced. The original English release only had 32 voiced characters.
They would need to sell over 5000 copies just to pay the VAs.

Of course all of this is vague speculations from the little bit information that we have and we don't really know how exactly it would cost or how many numbers they would need to sell to break even and start making a profit.

It was ok, I guess. I never get my expectations up for these cons. As someone who doesn't mind dicks, I would prefer them to do trapshit instead of BL for shitty fujos. But I suppose it's to be expected with someone like Haro at MG. All-ages yurige is probably the most worthless announcement from MG, though. At least there's Harumade but since it's being handled via Sekai I'm pretty sure it won't be out for quite some time and will likely be a buggy mess. And I really don't care about the Rance announcements because even as a Rance fan I knew we were going to get them regardless, and announcing X so soon seems like a waste.

Unless everything goes through something like kickstarter, never. Printing companies normally have a minimum order amount so unless they are guaranteed to sell most of them it ends up a waste and they can lose money on it.
Kickstarter gets around that because you know in advance how many copies people will want and if it isn't viable then the kickstarter will fail with no real money lost.

The main reason why trying to market to plotfags is so tricky is because they are so picky. Also want to see how the Venus Blood Kickstarter does. I'm only mildly interested in Venus Blood itself, but I am a huge fan of Gears of Dragoon. Any hope of Gears of Dragoon being translated someday would likely require Venus Blood being successful, so it's worth watching.
And always hoping for something interesting to be announced at Otakon.
