Finally managed to get one of my dolls out of the cabinet (an arduous task that took an entire afternoon) but now I have a problem this BOY is just too cute and feminine thus I can't help putting him in his twin sisters' clothing. What can I do to resolve the situation? Having only need of one wardrobe for the two of them is quite advantageous but I fear he'll catch the big gay if he stays dressed as a girl.

I posted last thread about doing the faceup and wig for my new doll myself and figured I'd show her finished.
For being my first time doing a faceup I think she turned out ok.
This doll >>19382181 was actually the inspiration for the two-tone wig. I was originally going to cut her hair short but I suck at styling and I fell in love with her long hair so I just trimmed the bangs and called it good.

Yeah. I actually tried to do her mouth with my watercolor pencils but they didn't work out so I erased most of it. I'll probably try again using acrylics but I need to get a thinner brush. All the brushes I have are too thick for fine detail work.

Decide on what character/design you want.
Pick a head from; limited models, standard models, a custom, or commission one.
Get some eyes or stick with what the head comes with.
Get a body if the head didn't come with one
Buy a wig that matches or similar enough that you can cut.
Get an outfit by commissioning it, making it, or using various clothes, though you might be able to find something pre-made.
I wouldn't recommend doing a custom character for your first doll, But if its what you want more power to you, just be sure to plan everything out before you start purchasing.

Mainly just being familiar with dollfies, knowing the body types, being familiar with the heads, knowing how to make clothes, knowing the shops to search.
Its much easier to just buy a standard or limited model straight from volks than to place several orders from stores you've never heard of until a week ago.
Its not really that difficult for a newcomer but it will require some patience if they want everything to be perfect.

There's nothing wrong with warm bedroom lighting but it would be better executed with lower light placement (think table lamps) and higher contrast composition. Judging by the reflection on the hair i'm going to assume your main source of light is the ceiling lamp, which doesn't really create a good mood.

I'm addicted to them. They're really cute and there's 14 years worth of clothing and accessories to collect for them so you have a lot of wardrobe options without needing to have anything custom made. There are a few downsides though. Their articulation used to be crap but the pure neemo body had a nice pear shape to it. Then last year they replaced the old body with pic related. The articulation is much nicer now but i hate how skinny and gangly it is. Especially the legs. They look nasty unless you dress your dolls in pants.

For me it's was the latter. Just one of those things that dawn on you if you have the aptitude. Think of the color wheel and what sits relatively opposite. The concept is not dissimilar to blurring backgrounds for subject isolation. Look at some other photos you'll notice how the subject pops when compared to negative space.
