So I'm playing through the first Etrian Odyssey right now. Haven't gotten very far though. Any tips for a beginner?

And yes, I heard already that the sequel is better, but I haven't bought it yet. I kinda bought EO on a whim honestly. Sorry.

well I think it's mildy entertaining so far. The lolis are a definite bonus anyway.

The "best" party is Protector, Landshreckt, Medic, Survivalist and Alchemist.

This works out good if you're planning on playing EO2 after, since Dark Hunter, Hexer, Ronin, Gunner and War Magus is a top tier party there. You can play with all the classes you missed during EO1.

Try pointing points in Defender (if you have Protector) and getting Immunize ASAP (for Medic). Using both will cut down physical damage a lot. Use team PSLMA, like >>1918304 suggested. The game gets a easier after the first stratum (not counting post game).
