I am eating...I am eating...curry. Om nom nom, fresh, straight from the cook. It's piping hot and the steam from it burns my eyes a little, the smell is strong, and the flavor intense. "Oh Ciel, please give me some more, i'm still hungry!". I don't think i've ever come across curry as rich as this before, the flavor takes over all my senses. I can't take it anymore, I want more of this spicy deliciousness. I find the place it's coming from, its a hole, and I notice Ciel is looking the other way. The hole isn't big enough for me to use the spoon, but around it is soft tissue. I pull it open and decide to just use my tongue to scoop out the curry. I notice another area near the curry hole, dripping with something, so I taste it. The flavor is that of salty milk and coins, I quickly return to the curry to remove the taste. While eating the curry, I hear a gurgling noise...suddenly a hot gust of air billows out of the hole and the curry begins flowing at an amazing pace. The smell, the taste, the heat, it all comes pouring out of the hole with such force...soon it's all over my face and the floor, I'm slathered in it, enjoying it, loving it. I begin lapping it off the floor. My hands are covered in it, i begin rubbing it into myself. The heat is so intense that it begins to make my erect...as the curry pours out, I get closer and closer to . In the background I can hear Ciel moaning in discomfort.

>IIRC that was from TM Ace when they just announced Extella Link. Nasu and Marvelous thought that having story-heavy scenario will restrict the amount of characters you can use in a musou game (which was clearly one of Extella's major problems) so they planned Link to have much lighter story where you can finish with any character. Nasu also said something along the lines of "making the actual Extella 2 to be more of a traditional game" which seems to imply he's gonna go back to RPG or visual novel style. In any case, that is a good sign that they realized musou = bad for story.

God I hope this is true.
I know people have issues with the Extra universe in general, but at least the original and CCC were more focused than the "let's get as many Servants in as possible" of Extella and FGO trash. TM just keeps picking the worst possible formats for storytelling. As long as Nasu doesn't step away from Fateshit, this would still be better than nothing.

Let's not fool ourself.

Tsukihime is barely noticeable. The maid routes are decent, the rest is barely okay. There are some great girls, like Ciel, and some okay-ish girls, like Arc, but the OST is horrendous, the story is so-so, the artwork would make anyone puke. It's not a great VN. It's not a genre defining VN. It's an okay VN.

Fate;Stay Night is not a masterpiece either, but it is objectively better in all category, a 8/10 instead of a 6/10.

I had great hopes for the remake. Could have been awesome. I'm sure it will be released before the end of the world.

It won't and I hope Aniplex doesn't even acknowledge the issue. Things like these are a slippery slope, if GO dies to this it could potentially take other possible good stuff by TM down in the future.

There's a new Nasu blog post.
He talked about Extella Link just being a shitty spin-off again.
It also seems like he still reads real VNs, the post is mostly a huge review of "Rei-Jin-G-Lu-P", which he really loved. Hope that horror mystery aspect inspires him for Tsukihime R.

No other thoughts on Nasu's blog post? I don't really go out of my way to keep up with it, but I think it's pretty rare for him to talk about other VNs like that, he must really consider it an instant classic. I really enjoyed that interview about his thoughts on Ikuhara, I wish we had more of his perspective on other works.

Because other Masters are a part of the series. The nameless NPC Masters in the original Extra were some of the coolest things about the game.
Plus, you just know they're gonna bring Rin/Rani (whoever canonically survives) back to the Moon Cell in some future Extra game, and probably introduce some new wizards while they're at it. This would've been a good chance to do it.
They could've also had the Aozaki sisters come back, or Kotomine as an NPC. Just have more people to interact with besides Servants.

Anyway, at the end of UBW Shirou gets to the clock tower with Rin (and possibly Saber). There is some supplemental material that imply that, at least on some universes, Shirou becomes an enforcer. Rin is a genius, so she does great in the Clock Tower. Saber if she's here acts as a bodyguard, and the trio have fun in England and stuff. No true info beyond that.

At the end of HF route everyone is overpowered and everything is seriously off-track. Rin gives the finger to the Clock Tower, starts mastering the Second Magic, apprentices under Zelbretch. Sakura has got virtually infinite prana from being connected to the grail, Rider acts as her bodyguard, and Shirou has become a living embodiment of Heaven's Feel. Something like an incarnated soul in a puppet body. And he lives with his rightful waifu Sakura in Fuyuki city. I guess the weirdos have fun together?

The original introduced some of the best Masters and Servants in the series (something you could never say about GO), and CCC has a very clear creative vision behind it and thematic focus (what GO trash is sorely lacking).

Only FGO went full fledged with that. The focus in Extra was split rather equally between Masters and Servants, and Nasu at least attempted to do something unique with a self-insert MC. In FGO cancer, the MC is actively detrimental to the story and literally feels like a camera strapped on for the ride, just taking up space. Extra started some bad trends, but they were not handled terribly until GO came along.

And yes, Nasu handling a very sexual, fetishy story with Utena-like visuals was something that he hadn't done before and was new to the Nasuverse. A very interesting way to take the rather mediocre original Extra.

All those themes are shallow as fuck and FGO barely explores them, Goetia is a very average villain that feels like a standard JRPG final boss, Roman is the only decent character in an incredibly bland main cast, most of the plot doesn't even deal with those themes at all and you're just using the final couple of chapters as if that's the entire story. FGO feels aimless and has no fucking focus 99% of the time, in no small part thanks to the shitty alternating writers and the shitty dialogue-based pseudo-VN medium it uses to convey a story. I hate that you somehow think FGO is more "legitimate" because it uses shallow versions of similar themes from other works, that just makes it much worse.

And once again, you're getting got up in minutiae of each work. It doesn't matter which story you personally prefer. FGO is a massively successful gacha shit that attracted massive numbers of secondaries due to its focus on all the things that are not at all what makes TM cool or unique, but instead what brings in the crowds. It's a bad game in general, its story will be dragged out for years as long as retards are willing to pay for it, its art and writing are highly inconsistent, and it set in stone trends that might just make Type-Moon completely shit forever (as we've seen from everything that has release since 2015). Extra and Extra CCC were at least complete stories, actually written all by Nasu, with no scar marks left behind that would affect future TM products (because they were a very distinct spin-off thing rather than the "main project"). That's the kind of TM project I'm willing to support with my money and want more of, not low effort gacha shit that they can simply churn out for years and that's in a terrible medium I don't enjoy in the first place at all.

Nah, fuck you. FGO is seen the same way by the fanbase all around the world. It's mostly shallow gacha trash where people just have fun seeing new Servants and looking forward to more fapping and power level arguments. It's only taken seriously during main story chapters and certain events, and even those are incredibly light hearted a lot more often compared to F/SN, KnK, and Tsukihime. The tone and mood that was in Nasu's works is just no there at ALL, he fucking knew when to set up a more SoL sequence of scenes/day, but still managed to keep you invested and serious most of the time. There is no fucking investment in the story of FGO, there is rarely narration, no internal thoughts, the characters are garbage, people just look forward to lore bombs and what bullshit the Servants will pull in each chapter.

You're right, the vast majority are just bland and boring, and literally what the artist comes up with after reading a wikipedia article on some historical figure. They are not original characters, their art is inconsistent as fuck due to all the artists involved in the project, FGO Servants are pure trash. Oh, absolutely. The Remake seems like it will have a healthy dose of original content injected, but it's not a brand new story/setting.
However, I do think Tsuki R has more potential for anime and other spin-off stuff, the Tsukihime side of the Nasuverse has been neglected (though I don't want it to be milked to the degree of Fate, I want good stuff like Melty).
Mahoyo will probably remain just a VN series even if sequels come out, but I'd be very happy for either one. Any Nasu-only story would be good.

Anon, designs don't simply become outdated with the passage of time, unless they have elements very unique to a certain decade (and even then you could set a new work in that same time period using the same designs). The old ones are outdated only because new versions exist, and TM is obviously waiting for the Remake before they do anything with them.
I'd love it if we got more fun stuff in the meantime like new Sacchiin in April Fool's 2014, but sadly GO killed April Fool's.

All of them have definitely read FSN at least, and most of them read Tsukihime and other Fate spin-offs too. Nasu's old works are pretty influential among VNs, jap writers wouldn't just skip classics. The problem is that their personal styles more often than not don't mesh well with the series and what made Nasu's writing good, they just prefer to focus on bland chuuni and Servants. Higashide is a prime example of someone who started with Tsukihime, but focuses on all the worst aspects of TM.
Urobuchi and Narita are by far the best at using TM's universe properly while adapting it to their preferences, but then again they're a cut above the other writers.

Regardless, you're looking at totally generic personality traits that could be said for tons of characters. Ishtar is no more "Rin" than all the other Aoko clones like Azaka and Akiha, this time they just got extra lazy with the design and realized people would roll the gacha for Rin.
Rin's character is someone who has grown up alone in the world, distrustful of even her mentor figure since her father's death. Someone who respects a harsh upbringing if it brings about good results, and who is willing to embrace her family's motto and carry on their legacy, so much so that she's willing to risk her life for it. She doesn't think twice about accomplishing her goals and strives to be successful in everything, she just generally enjoys a challenge and doesn't get complaining about difficulty. However, her distrust for others has made her create a mask for the outside world, which fits perfectly with her double life as a magus. Her biggest internal struggle is that she can't fully take on the role of a magus, because she's still generally kindhearted and feels empathy for others.
What really makes her shine in FSN are her interactions and development with characters like Shirou, Archer, and Sakura. The 3 route structure applies heavily to her like all the other main characters, and allows you to see different facets of her in every story.

Practically none of the above could be said about Ishtar. They have some similar personality traits as two tsundere, and you could make a loose connection with their roles in each story, but the meat of their characters (what makes them interesting to discuss) is totally dependent on the context and extremely different.
