Are there any good documentaries in english /jp/ recommends where one can learn more about Otaku culture in Japan? Things like what goes on behind the scenes at Comiket or maybe the life of a doujin artist

Go draw a shit comic about 2hu. There, you've experienced the life of a doujin artist.

What do you expect about "the life of a doujin artist"? They're just normal dudes and dudettes who draw comics on the side.

Just watch Otaku no Video and laugh at Hideaki Anno's impression of an Autist who plays porn games all day.

The one about the dude and sushi.

But dude if you watch George trombley from japanese from zero and also Matt from ajatt you will learn plenty about Japan and will learn japanese so you can just move there

There's a couple I really like. "Akihabara Geeks" follows several different people in Akiba denizens (a maid, a doujin game dev, a moe fan, etc) through a day in their life. The one downside is that it's dubbed over.

"The Secret World of Comiket" is a more traditional styled documentary by NHK with interviews with a bunhc of the different types of people that are apart of the Comiket experience, from vendors to cosplayers and even staff. Very fun.

I wish I knew more as well, so if you find any other good documentaries, let us know.

Most Train Otaku I've met in the 3D world are seemed to have genuine Asperger's syndrome. Also knew a military Otaku who was a similar case. All cool and knowledgeable dudes, but Autistic nonetheless.

You're welcome OP!! Otaku no Video is a very entertaining parody documentary made by Gainax, in their hayday. You're in for a fun time (Assuming you haven't seen it already).
