Again this year there was actual paneling on Kigurumi being put on by several guests from Japan.

Most notably the panel on Facial Balance in Japanese Animation and Kigurumi, Given by one of the Guests from Japan who has 20 years experience drawing Japanese Manga and another 10 of designing Kigurumi masks. ( Yes he considers himself a beginner. )

In fact, besides RTPS, there were two other commercial mask makers in attendance and at least two independents I can't begin to count how many different who create their own masks. I can't begin to guess how many mask makers were represented, by their creations, amongst the performers..

How does an art form that does not traditionally "speak directly" with it's audience, spread the word? It gets itself out there and shows it's face to the fans, in venues where it can physically interact by providing handouts, information booths, or Spokespeople who can answer questions.

Anime North covers two convention centers and three hotels. There's acres of parking lot as well to wander around in. Many of the attendees do not even buy memberships but spend all weekend at the events and the Raves outside. They never see the booth.

Slight disagreement with anon here - exaggerated movements aren't necessarily bad, especially in kig. It's true that if you go overboard you'll probably look kinda cringey, but in general if you stick with "casual" movements that feel natural to you, they'll probably be slightly too subtle/static for your enlarged proportions and static face as a kig.

Try watching precure kigs do their stage performances. Obviously you don't have to match their acrobatics and shit, but you'll notice that their movements are pretty dramatic and arguably "exaggerated", so to speak. This is because "normal" movements would look extremely awkward and stiff.

In the end, there's a balance you have to find, which'll just take experimenting and plenty of feedback.

Can't speak to the quality of the mask itself, but as you can tell by the preview images Remykig is gonna be pretty much a DIY kig.
Justin Bailey or Dimension Breaker/ANT seem to be the best quality for the price. There's probably going to be a wait time for both of those though.

I bought one when his shop was still on etsy. What others have said is true, it is not a finished mask ready to wear out of the box, there's no mout or ears on it and you need to adjust they eyes too, so it's a bit of a project. But if you're comfortable doing that it's a steal for the price, I was not disappointed with mine. It's nice and sturdy with I dont know how many layers of fiberglass but it's not too heavy. It had plenty of rough spots but they were very minor and easy to sand smooth. I still haven't gotten around to finishing mine because I'm still chubby and lazy, but I'm happy with it all the same.
