Oh man. I used to love RO. When I was in high school (back when I had a few friends) we would sometimes go over to each others house, bring our computers, and play RO all night. I can't play anymore, though (I tried a few months ago) because I don't have the patience for grinding and higher rates take out a lot of the fun. Or perhaps it's because I don't have people to play it with.

Anyway, if OP is still here... it's a really good game. If you don't mind grinding, which you'll find in almost every MMO anyway, and you have a few people you know (online or otherwise) to play it with you, then you should definitely give it a try. The visual style is great and is probably enough to make you like the game on its own. The gameplay is fun as well.

As for Gaia weeaboos, the userbase for any popular game will have a lot of stupid faggots. You can just ignore them, though, and like I said earlier, it will probably help if you have a few friends so that you will have to deal with potential faggots even less.

I would suggest that you play on a private server to try it out and see if you enjoy it. If you like it, then consider switching to an official server. I always played on private servers for the extra conveniences they had available, but lately the idea that people can just pay money on some of them to get better items has bothered me. I can't suggest one since I haven't really played the game in a while and when I tried recently I didn't bother looking around too hard.

RO2 will never go passed beta. They have put all their time and work into the RO renewal process because they see that the main selling point of RO was the graphics. They cant recreate that hype or love in a 3D game.

I wouldnt suggest playing this, pservers are always restarting and the iRO servers are pretty dead. Not nearly what they used to be. There is a free server for iRO that has a high pop I think but it has huge restrictions.

Valkyrie is actually pretty decent as far as servers go. If 1/1/1 and a number of minor (major) changes made to increase the grind even more then necessary floats your boat then I recommend you at least try it.

Personally I would play on the server if I had even half the time I used to waste on this game.
