So, I have never seen the anime, and pretty much the only thing I know about this game is that it got a high score on erogamescape and the Keyfags are trolled like there's no tomorrow.
With that said, I'm going to play it, I need a good BAAWWing with romance on the side. Are there differences between the Full Voice version and the original version + voice patch? Is there something I'd be better off knowing before playing, such as likeable characters that don't have a route or shit like that?

Fairly enjoyable. I didn't shed even a single manly tear, drama seemed a bit too forced. For a romance/slice of life game with numerous girls to choose from and that spends like 90 hours tossing all kinds of choices and routes at you, in the end the decision is made for you. This may bug you, it may not. I didn't like the fact that the girl that Key is jamming down your throat with a much longer and in depth route, not to mention the After Story, was my least favorite one.

That's just me though.

The Kyou route is more about Ryou which is why it sucks. She got all the development while Kyou basically just got a few generic "I liked you but was afraid to say it" type lines.

I thought the ending of the route was good though. Kyou really shines as a best friend type character, especially in Kotomi's route. Too bad they fucked up her romance.

Romeos games also have awesome characters, but he set his focus on writing a story, rather describing everyday life of protagonist. While CC blew me away with its awesomeness, trying to compare it with Clannad is idiotic since they are so different, CC was a full exploration of the psyche of a delusional and psychotic guy, Clannad is just a healing game.

Kazokei makes more sense, they are botch closely related it term of genre and delivery, to say one is better than the other would be hard though since they both really succeed at doing what they are trying to do.

And I don't think Saihate is as good as CC and KK, good ideas but the delivery kinda failed.

But yes I'm a big Romeo's fan too, but I can enjoy different things without comparing them compulsively.
