Is it normal that i still see some kanjis as squares sometimes, even though i have japanese as system language and fonts installed? It's weird because it is this way not everywhere, depends on the programms and fields i'm using. Especially problematic with Anki.

No. Tae Kim covers a few things in its Advanced section that Manga Way doesn't (and Manga Way covers a few things that Kim doesn't), but nothing so essential that you can't learn it by looking it up in DoJG/HJGP the first time you encounter it.

The exceptions don't matter. Just follow the basic principles and you're good.

Read the shortest grammar guide you can find in a day, no matter how little of it you understand. This primes you brain on how to efficiently consume a grammar guide. Then read the most comprehensible grammar guide you can find in a week or so. This primes you on what kind of grammar Japanese actually has. Then start reading real Japanese (actually you can start sooner) with a grammar reference meant for learners of some sort (like hjgp or dojg). Never worry about grammar again.

Don't think so. If you don't know a kanji you probably also don't know its stroke order. Also all kanji are visually distinguishable without knowing stroke order so I reckon google's AI is also able to distinguish them without taking stroke order into account.

It's perfectly normal in the beginning when your vocabulary is small. I have trouble reading yotsuba because of that. In every chapters there's at least one verb conjugated two or three times and butchered in an attempt to make it shorter (おいといて never 5get).

What you're saying is ridiculous though, obviously it's annoying to read text that's just in kana: that's why kanji exists. They can do it, just like you or I could read English if you didn't put spaces in the words, but we don't write that way, and nobody would expect a student of English to be able to read something written in that unnatural way very well.

It's just lyrics from the opening of Gundam 00, which has war and fighting in it. The MC's friends with this one pacifistic diplomat, and that's about as much context as is really relevant I think

I haven't seen てほしい enough times yet to know the 死んでも means "even if (I/you) dies" or if it's also connected to the てほしい which would make the sentence 貴方に死んでほしくない + 貴方に殺めて欲しくない.
Also, in the DoJG the verb used with ほしい is what the speaker wants the person marked by に to do, rather than what the speaker wants to do to the person which is why I felt the translation was wrong.

死んで cannot have 貴方 as the subject, because in 貴方に死ぬ the に particle does not mark the subject and makes no sense on its own.

Therefore, the construct is 貴方に殺めて欲しくも無い, where に marks the "direction" of the action 殺める towards 貴方. Which means "I don't want to hurt you".
死んでも is wedged into the middle, meaning "even if <topic> die(s)".
The subject of 死ぬ depends on the context/topic. Since this is a song lyric, it's not spelled out obviously, making it ambiguous and implicit, but it would make the most sense if the subject was "I".

Isn't it so simple? Kanji there for a reason. It's easier with reading because you don't necessarily have to know words beforehand to read and understand them perfectly. I'm talking especially about suffixes and preffixes which exist in abundance in japanese.

I'm having a terrible time with にして. I feel like every fucking where I go they say something different.

DoJG says it can be used to connect noun phrases/na adj to mean like "and" or it points a time. Then that Japanesetest4you site also lists the time pointer, but then says "only/even" which DoJG didn't say AT ALL, and on the other hand it doesn't mention the "and" kind of thing that DoJG said.

As I result of different sources telling me different things, I'm not sure how to read this sentence. I can't tell if it's saying it's "the newest entry in the series AND also the last one for 3ds" or if it's specifying that "ONLY as the newest entry, it's the last one on 3ds" which then implies there might still be games of the series coming for 3ds as long as they are old titles.

I honestly don't even give a fuck about this game I just want to understand にして.

Lately I've adopted a new reading method. I read an entire page of a novel, highlighting words as I go along, while also OCRing them so I can understand them. When I'm done with the page, I'll go back and re-read every sentence with the unknown word in it over and over until I can read all of the sentences without looking up any of the words. One one hand I feel like this forces me to form a connection and actually think about the words and learn them better, but it also requires 100x more effort and takes all the fun out of reading and also slows me down by a lot. Does anyone else do anything similar?

If you must stop your reading to work on vocabulary on its own then you might as well mine those words and read 20 minutes less than you'd normally would so you can do 20 minutes of anki. Never been in one of these threads before but I got a question.

So, lets say I know myself some basic, like very basic, japanese. i got all the kana down no problem, and i know maybe a few kanji, all the most essential grammar, stuff like that.
I'm also in a position where I could basically completely cut off all exposure to english entirely in my life for a good long while, outside of when I have to go to work, but at work I talk to nobody, it's just reading, and I'm alone.

If I cut out nearly all english in my life entirely and just surrounded myself in japanese, and forced myself to watch hours of unsubbed japanese content every day, would I eventually absorb it like a child?

I understand that even if this would work it would be the least efficient way possible to learn, but I'm considering trying just to see if I can. I would be at it for about 6 months.

Is such a thing actually working possible?

A concrete example: I'm reading the novelization of 打ち上げ花火, and there's a description of the classroom. All I got was that the main girl sat in the 真ん中の席 while the protag sat in the 窓側の一番後ろの席 (ie the protag seat). There's some stuff about summer holiday plans, something about papers, but all I got was that the person sitting in front of the protag said the main girl was pretty. As long as you're actually reading and learning new words/getting used to grammar every single day, the amount hardly matters.

It's not that much of a difference. Some radicals are different, one of most striking is probably the 置く that you posted. Otherwise it's mostly the same strokes with slightly different angles, sizes or positions, and most kanji look the same.

I need help. I suck at pacing myself. It doesnt matter if its studying, working-out, or learning Japanese. I always take in too much at once because I "can" but then I get burnt out every time. I want to learn as fast as I can without overdoing it, but going at a pace with stuff like flashcards doesn't help because its harder to learn if I don't have context like in the manga I have, yet reading is significantly harder without the basics. Even if I can grasp the grammar, the content itself is at a grind where I recognize a few words a panel and the rest go into the mining deck, which causes me to burn out again. Should I even find a pace or is burning out part of the process?

Anki is good in the beginning when you don't have many words under your belt. Once you know enough to understand at least basic sentences you should drop it and read things that actually interest you.

If you're studying with flashcards every day you might as well read and learn new words through context instead.

A lot of us are here because we don't want to wait for translations anyway. Speed up that process.

I don't always use it to clear my head. Sometimes I just think about the things I want to do and the things I want to avoid for that day. Gives me time to plan out my day as well as mentally prepare for everything.

When you do want to just clear your mind of things, though, I'm finding it just as useful and a lot easier to just make myself focus on one arbitrary thing. Like focusing on my breathing and saying repeating inhale and exhale in my head. I also imagine a center line to focus on visually. Your mind's gonna stray a lot starting off but you just gotta keep catching yourself and focusing back. Gets easier with practice like anything else.
