I don't understand, how can some people even doubt that Sakuya is from the moon?

I just finished hers and Remilia's story in IN, and the fact that she is a lunarian is so obvious in this game.

Sakuya comes from a long line of families who have served the Scarlet's. Her father was once Remilia's head butler, until he retired to raise his family. Shit happens, he and his wife buy it, but before he died, he sent a loli Sakuya to Remilia. Remi took her in and raised her to become her head maid, continuing her family's proud tradition.

Oh, and Sakuya's father looked exactly like Robert Patrick in Terminator 2.

Perfect Memento's own foreword notes that the book isn't entirely reliable, and Akyu herself writes that the Sakuya Belmont theory is just a rumor. You're welcome to prefer your unlikely-ass fanon backstory theory, but don't start bullshitting about it being canon.

Jesus Christ, this.

Fanon is all fine and dandy (hell, I have pretty wild ideas of my own), but don't try passing it off as canon. That's the number one reason why Touhou character discussions in /jp/ often turn to idiotic bickering rather than a gathering of interesting ideas.

Where are you getting from the ending that Sakuya has been to the moon before? The translation I have doesn't even come close to implying that. In fact in the good end, Remilia calls Sakuya human

Remilia "You've been here with us for such a long time that it hardly seems fitting to still call you human."
Sakuya "Are you saying that you would like another human servant?
It takes a lot of training to bring someone up for this position..."

Mokou had black hair, but after spending a thousand years worth of days outside, it's natural that it would have "lost" it's color.

Or maybe "Mokou" was the original body for Kaguya, and Kaguya's once belonged to Mokou. A little magical mishap and BAM, they switched bodies, and their spirits never bother to regenerate their original bodies, just their current ones.

I thought the most telling thing (in regards to suggesting Sakuya is Lunarian) in the whole game was when Sakuya was thinking to herself about how things must have changed in the lunar capital, how what was in fashion "then" wouldn't be now, etc.

She never actually says she's been to the moon like some people are claiming, but it implies that she was familiar enough with the lunar capital that she must have been there many years ago

Tifa, baby, Tifa.

But that's beside the point. What I ment to say was, Lunarians and humans are still the same species. The Lunarians are still humans who left the Earth in the past, and like all isolated ethnicities they have some distinct racial traits not found in the rest of humanity. Just for Lunarians, those traits include a ridiculously long lifespan.
