News:
-Decisive Battle, Operation Shou-Gou! Interception in the Battle of Leyte Gulf (Part 2) has begun. It is a 7-map large-scale event that will last until March 23 11am JST. E-1 is an ASW patrol mission in Palawan Passage, E-2 is based on the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea, E-3 is the "First Battle of Cape Engaño", and E-4 is "Beyond the Waters Off Samar— Battle of Leyte Gulf". E-5 is "Operation Ta-Gou Kai", E-6 is "Pursuit! The Second Striking Force". E-7 is "Victory on the Dawn Horizon— The Second Battle of Cape Engaño".
-The new ships from the main operation are DEs Hiburi (E-2 reward), Daitou (E-4 drop), Destroyer HMS Jervis (E-4 drop), and CVE-73 USS Gambier Bay (E-4 reward). The new ships from the Extra Operations are destroyer Hamanami (E-5 drop), Russian destroyer Tashkent (E-6 drop), and the Essex-class carrier CV-11 USS Intrepid (E-7 reward).
-New equipment are 10cm Twin HA+Additional Machine Guns (Musashi stock), SK Radar (E-6 medium and and easy), SK&SG Radar (E-6 hard reward), QF 4.7inch Mk.XII Kai (Jervis stock), 130mm B-13 Twin Gun Mount (E-4/5 reward), 533mm Triple Torpedo Mount (E-5 reward), and 51cm Twin Gun Mount (E-7 medium and hard), Shiden Kai (343 Air Group) Unit 301 (E-7 hard reward).
-The January ranking rewards have been distributed. The new equipment is the 5inch Single-Gun Mount Mk. 30. It will be obtainable with a new ship set to be implemented in the Spring.
-For the Fifth Anniversary, an American escort vessel that fought valiantly and sunk to protect the carriers off Samar from Kurita's fleet will be implemented.
-Friendly Fleet(NPC) appears in E-4 boss node during the yasen phase, where 1 of 5 preset NPC fleets will appear and provide shelling support before the escort fleet's turn. The NPC ships attack in the same way as a regular fleet does in yasen. Each fleet has a special voice line before they begin their attack. There are more Friendly Fleets(NPC) available in E-6 and E-7. New fleets have been added to E-7.
-New spring furniture has been added.
-Valentine's seasonal lines and CGs have been removed. New and returning Decisive Battle voice lines and CGs have been added. Zuikaku Kai Ni and Kai Ni A now have Cape Engaño Decisive Battle CGs.
-The Kagerou-class will receive Kai Ni starting in the spring and a few may already be implemented before Phase 2. Isokaze will receive a B Kai this Spring. Yuugumo-class will also get more Kai Ni this year.
-There are plans for expanding ASW with equipment from the land of black tea like ASDIC and hedgehogs.
-New Akizuki and Matsu-class destroyers are under plans to be added.
-KanColle will migrate to HTML5 and Friend Fleets will be implemented in the period between the Spring mini-event and summer in Phase 2.

While I do kind of miss regenerating health bars, I'm really grateful that compass RNG is mostly a thing of the past now. I don't think there's a more frustrating way of getting screwed over than finally making it past the preboss nodes only to lose the compass spin and make all your efforts worthless.

As someone that have been playing since then, for me there were only 2events that actually made me stressed out and gave me the sense of impending failure. IBS and Isokaze event. Not many people were actually prepared for IBS since the game only caught fire after comiket that year and Isokaze event locked you to the difficulty based on your teitoku level. IBS is still the only event that made me slaved infront of my computer from morning till night while actually actively subslaving for resources. The relief from beating IBS is still unmatched up to today.

Events nowadays all have failsafe and last so long that you will beat it as long as you idlecolle your resources diligently and you can just spam your elixirs that you collected all over the years. Unless you are a newfag that actually play by your own rule/principle (kou mode only), the current game is really very casual friendly outside of repetitive/constant farming for rare boatsluts.

Tbh for newfags there probably isn't any point in starting to play KC anymore. Even if they reach the point where they'll have ships needed for hard mode they'll lack equipment required to tackle it. Add in the friend fleets being added in near future and the likelihood that any and all future events will be balanced around the idea that the player has access to friend fleets equipped with top tier equipment (i.e. something that fresh starter is unlikely to get as people with those will probably only befriend other people with all meme medals, rare ships, ranking rewards, and other shit like that) and you end in a situation where no matter how motivated the newfag is he'll be doomed to do kuso or super-kuso forever.

I think the difficulty selection is actually a pretty good thing. It let the new fags climb the ladder, from the easiest difficulty in the first event, to the hardest difficulty by his fifth event if he worked hard enough. Kancolle is the role model of a strict meritocratic system that still let the people at the bottom climb the ladder.

Yeah the friend fleet will definitely help the new ttk clear up event on easy if they have a veteran ttk as friend. However it also means that the higher difficulty map will take into account friend fleet and become harder.

Honestly, I had the most fun with this game in 2013/2014. Once difficulty selection was added, the player base wasn't all dealing with the same stuff and the prestige was shifted away from the girls.
