Takeminakata is either a giant "nerf me please" alert or a sign of massive powercreep to come, she's literally Yodarha, who sees zero use in content where his gimmick can't guarantee a fast win.

The game seems to be a fairly standard wave-based RPG so far, think Brave Frontier if anyone ever played that. Interestingly units can go below the minimum star total from the pre-registration gacha - I saw a helper with a 4-star Peridot (you can see her in the bottom corner; I think the unit takes the place of one of yours if somebody bites it) and I already have a 3-star Aqua Aura from the gacha too. Seems like a lot of the money is going to come not from unit acquisition, but the game's equipment gacha and premium skins. There's already a swimsuit version of Diamond, a school uniform Ruby, and a military uniform Aqua Aura available, all of which I believe are supposed to unlock different H-scenes upon the game's release.

And prepare for absurd amounts of jiggle physics, I think Morion and Zircon are the only members of this team whose chests aren't constantly spasming.

Some observations about gameplay:
>Max level for units is 30, unless they're a 6* in which case the max level is 40.
>Leveling units ingame is done by spending gold and special consumable leveling stones that commonly drop from completed stages.
>Rarity evolution is possible when a unit reaches max level for that rarity, but requires spending a decent amount of evolution materials.
>A fully-leveled 6* has double or more the raw stats of a fully-leveled 5*.
>Gems from pre-registration will go fast - it's 3000 gems per 11-pull, or 1500 for the equipment gacha.
>SD sprites don't seem to change upon reaching 6*.
>Higher-ranked units have better stats, stronger skills, and slightly lower cooldown times.
>ALL units from the preregistration gacha have a base of 3*. The only units who have a base of 4* or more currently are the Spectra (Diamond, Ruby, etc.) teased in the trailer.
>Currently the only units that are attainable are the preregistration ones and the seven Spectra.

I was referring to star upgrades, but both are correct to a degree. A level 1 6* will have roughly double the stats of the same unit as a 3* as well as categorically better abilities/skills and the stats will only get better as they level due to varying growth rates.

As for different base ranks, pic related is a side-by-side comparison of the stats of 6* Larimar, Pearl, and Sapphire at level 40 (all purple units, so they have the same class). It's roughly a 20-30% difference in raw stats at an equivalent star rank - not accounting for affection bonuses and equipment, which narrows that gap significantly. The bigger difference is going to come from skills and abilities, since the Spectra seem to have more versatile and potent toolkits from what little I can read. My kanji is absolute trash though, so don't expect translations.

Equipment does provide pretty damn significant bonuses to offset this, and seem to also grant additional effects if you match the equipment with the character it's designed for. I got a 5* version of Rose Quartz's rapier and even without messing around with equipment fusion to level the thing, it's already giving the equipped unit around 150 attack, which at this stage of the game almost doubles the unit's attack power. (Though that could also be twisted the other way, if the Spectra's equipment give them better bonuses - don't know enough to say)

I'm still cautiously optimistic, if only for the fact that they've clearly tried to include avenues of revenue-making other than peddling an assembly line of powercreep characters. Outfits are probably going to be huge and I could easily see them making a killing off of gem sales during seasonal events due to that, and the equipment gacha is going to be another one. Even so, it's an in-house DMM game and those have always had somewhat mixed records of success. I really can't blame anyone for wanting to stay away. It's pretty well-made, extremely polished even in closed beta, and seems fun, but still, this is quite a few red flags to be seeing before the game's even launched.

PvP mode is definitely one of those red flags, but no real opinion here until I figure out more about it. I was able to get into it once before, but now it's soft-locking the client whenever I try to enter so either something broke with one of the closed beta updates or it's been temporarily disabled.

Finally got a chance to test it. It's such a clusterfuck that P2W concerns are probably going straight out the window, literally anyone who can inflict paralysis/stun/freezing/petrification is god-tier because the latter two never wear off and you can keep all but one member of the enemy team on permanent lockdown at once.

In fact debilitating statuses in this game are kind of busted as shit in general, durations tend to be multiple times longer than comparable buffs/debuffs and there's a vanishingly small list of units who can cure them (basically just Amber, from what I've seen so far). In most cases once a unit of yours gets hit with stun/freeze they may as well be dead.

Well, if you'd like to talk about FKG, looks like the confirmations for the fifth Jabjab Maidoari (FKG-only fan convention, to be held on April 22) are starting to come in. There's plenty of Anemone, Wolfsbane, Saffron and Cattleya as expected, but it's great to see less appreciated girls like Alyssum, Dipladenia, Monotropastrum and Violet on the spotlight too, and there's even a great-looking Acacia/Robinia yuri book by Ibuki Ren (plus further yuri potential in the form of a loli knightmaster by Siluma-sensei). Official artists like TAKTO, Satou Satoru, Urozuki Akira, Naruse Mamoru, Myonko and Nakamura B-ta are also participating as usual, so it seems that it'll be a pretty nice event.

And huh, this is something big: I was looking over Eryngium's lines while checking her ability set, and it turns out that she has a childhood friend called Eryngii. She's something of a shut-in who likes dark places (and so contrasts with Eryngium, who prefers sunshine due to her flower meaning), but more importantly, she seems to be our first mushroom-based character, which is a complete surprise. Some mushrooms do have flower meanings, since these associations were first formed back when life was divided into vegetable, animal and mineral kingdoms, but I thought even non-seed plants would be unlikely in FKG. I wonder if she will remain as a non-flower knight like Jolokia?

Incidentally, this might be another yuri couple in the making, as eryngii/king oyster mushroom is named after its tendency to grow on the roots of eryngo plants. And of course, it goes without saying that a gloomy, mushroom-themed NEET ought to feature a certain long-awaited charm point.

It's probably because Aigis is an old game and isn't really willing to overhaul its core mechanics just to make itself a little bit sleeker. Maybe they initially wanted to gate the number of AWs a player could do, so they had it require an AW fairy plus a bunch of silvers, but they later decided that it was a bad idea and made SAW/2AW requirements easier.

One reason I like FKG so much is that they don't fall for this, clunky mechanics get much greater scrutiny over there. But the flip side is that Aigis maintenances consistently finish in time, while FKG breaks itself every other week.

One last update for you all on the Jewel Princess closed beta, since I've explored almost all of the relevant content.
>In total, there were 6 (maybe 8) new Jewel Princesses teased in the closed beta. Carnelian, Black Opal, Alexandrite, Citrine, Moonstone (who is of course a bunnygirl), and Rock Crystal. Two generic designs also appeared, unnamed students of Rock Crystal, that are likely to become Jewel Princesses later down the line as well. I've taken pictures and can dump them if anyone wants.
>There is a purpose for dupes. When a unit reaches 6*, their base level cap is still level 30. A dupe of 4* or higher can be fused into them to allow them to limit break their level cap by 2, meaning it takes 6 units total (including the original) to reach the final cap of 40. Fusing higher-rarity units decreases the raw gold cost.
>The difference between a level 30 6* and a level 40 6* is absurd, around 2.5x the stats on average.
>Safe to say unless you're a massive whale, investing heavily into any of the Spectra is probably a trap unless you get very lucky with dupe rolls.
>The game gives you a 4* Aqua Aura and Seraphinite just for completing the tutorial. If you already chose them as your picks in the preregistration gacha, you can eventually use them as LB fodder.

>As for the best 3* base units currently: Morganite, Tourmaline, Seraphinite, Peridot, Aquamarine, and Opal all seem ridiculously good.

>The other unmentioned prereg 5*s aren't quite as amazing. Pearl is yet another universal-type with some AoE paralysis capabilities, but she's terrible for single-target damage. Turquoise is an attacker but I've only run into her a few times in the PvP arena. Like Pearl, she has decent AoE capabilities but trades off defense and any status capabilities for more power.
>I've yet to find any units that flat-out suck. All are perfectly usable, even if not optimal. Aventurine is probably closest, as a healer with no revive/status cleanse capabilities.
>Stats in the beta are almost certainly placeholders (~80% of same-class/same-rarity units share 100% identical stat spreads) so take the stat comparisons I posted before with a grain of salt.
>Honorable mention to Apatite of being the only preregistration character who isn't included in the closed beta. Poor girl.

>Status will fuck you over. There's paralysis/stun (unit skips ~3-4 of their turns), freeze/petrification (unit skips ~8 turns while being untargetable and when they thaw take a sizable chunk of damage; they can only prematurely thaw if everyone else on their side of the field is also frozen/petrified), silence (unit is only capable of autoattacks for ~5 turns), and blindness (unit misses ~50% of their attacks for a very long period of time but somehow can still inflict statuses/debuffs even if they whiff). All of the above can and will screw you over horribly and attacks that can inflict them often have bizarrely high infliction rates for how potent their effects are.
>There's amulets you can equip to your units to grant them resistance/immunity to status effects but I don't think they're attainable in the beta.

>4* base units are a mixed bag. Most beta players seem to be pumping all their resources into a single Spectra if they're lucky enough to pull one, but this is inadvisable for non-whales due to LB mechanics.
>Opal and Aquamarine in particular are even more dangerous than 4*s in certain conditions thanks to their long-cooldown instagibbing nukes.
>Of the 4*s I've seen in the arena, only Sapphire (basically Morganite+ with just as much freeze) and Topaz (attacker who can inflict both stun and silence, which prevents the unit from activating abilities) are horrific to fight against and that's mostly because status is so ridiculous right now.
>PvP is sort of a joke with balance as it is. Offensive teams are one thing, but facing stallier teams can be a shitfest because killing enemies is totally meaningless unless you kill their Tourmaline (and sometimes Seraphinite) first, and the AI is really schizophrenic about who it decides to target.

Final impressions: pretty fun in spite of some hiccups. Probably going to jew out hard before crashing and burning. We'll see.

None. The general consensus is to start playing on DMM instead, Nutaku games are poorly managed and extremely stingy in comparison. They have a long track record of removing almost every F2P feature from their games and then acting like it's not their fault when they close, and the less said of their censorship the better.

As for the games themselves, Flower Knight Girl is a clicker that has little complexity but compensates with really well-thought out character designs and easily the most attentive dev team on DMM, Aigis is a tower defense game that has some archaic mechanics but thrives thanks to its fun gameplay and established player base, and Kamihime is a GBF clone with exceptional art and H-scenes that cover a good range of niche fetishes. Outside the big three, there's Kanpani Girls (turn-based RPG where you run a company in a sword & sorcery setting) and Shiro Project (tower defense with characters based on castles) as the standout non-R18 games, and promising new titles (like the recent Jewel Princess) sometimes show up too.

You may want to test each for a while and go with whichever you like most.

On the other hand, though, rarity promoted rainbows actually have solid stats and abilities. Waterlily turns into a mini-Kerria (and is arguably as good as Red Ginger), while Anemone becomes a generic 3-target rainbow with dodge and a 2.2x multiplier on her skill (for comparison, Alstroemeria is stuck with the nerfed 2.0x).

Skills and slots get reset as expected, and the number of promotion stones needed for the process is high, but this should allow even free players to access crucial abilities like dodge, barrier, revival and 1.65x skill up. We also got another 20-stone discount banner, so storing up flower stones for these will probably be the ideal way to stock up for rarity promotion: About 930 flower stones under a discount banner will let you promote one "fresh" gold with no extra slots or skill levels.

Since you still get the actual contents of these rolls, this certainly isn't a bad deal. I got 320 already from the past three months' worth of rolls, and a free rainbow every 6 months sounds pretty good, though trading in D-medals for promotion stones is a terrible idea under the current rates.

Huh, so they also made a chart showing how many flower stones you need to promote a character.

Looks like 5* girls will be reasonably easy to advance, especially if 40% discounts occur more often, they decide to gift promotion stones once in a while or you're willing to roll for dupes in their highlight gacha, since you'll get 682 flower stones in about 4-5 months. But the initial estimate of "two rainbows a year" seems to be correct in general, since a 2* will take 6-7 months' worth of stones even with 20-stone discount rolls, and promotion is best reserved for your absolute favorites rather than the first character you fancy.

Things should be especially interesting with the kits of lower-rarity girls, since you usually have an idea about what a 5* characters kit will be as a 6*. German Iris for example will probably be a solar drive specialist a la Broom, Dogwood and Ardisia, while Peperomia will be a Dendrobium-ish first turn burst type, but someone like Strawberry could go in virtually any direction. I'd be fine with anything as long as their general power is kept on par with gacha rainbows, though, which seems to be the point of this system.

I like the idea of upgrading the rarity of units, that way everyone's waifu can be useful/ viable from the gameplay perspective. Aigis does this the wrong way, simply adding gold/platinum versions of weaker units as ADDITIONAL units, which end up being sub-par anyways and require you to rely on luck to get them.
What I don't like is how STUPIDLY much it relies on grinding/ materials.

I guess it's the Japanese thing of them not knowing how to balance for shit, so anything that doesn't require lottery-ticket luck requires grinding your ass off.

I'd advise keeping her for now. You've already gotten the biggest consolation prize for rolling a dupe rainbow (50 rainbow crystals - once you get to 300, you can exchange these for any gacha rainbow), so 12000 bond crystals aren't too impressive by comparison. A second rainbow will also bring a lot of power to bear for a beginning team, and Wheat is particularly effective as an enabler for other units thanks to her burst damage-focused kit. Maxing out units isn't really resource-intensive in FKG either, especially after the key revamp announced for next week, so you aren't wasting much by raising a dupe.

That said, I'm jealous. Wheat is both very cute by herself, and generally pegged as the rival of a personal favorite in Mistletoe (as both girls are patissiers, though I don't think there are any lines for their interactions).

Wasn't Naae hinted to be a premature worldflower, hence her ability to purify Kodaibana? They could do something with that, where she can't quite turn girls into flower knights yet but can boost the abilities of existing knights. Speaking of which, I have high hopes for the new LN series too, since it's headed by one of the game's official scenario writers in Tsukimoto Hajime (who also wrote for the late Bukatsu Shoujo Battle, which was a fun game that died too early - it even had art by Wazakita and Shuz). Dodge is only truly exceptional on 6* girls, as there's a rainbow-only provoke ability that can be equipped to redirect all enemy attacks to a single girl (these girls are also preferentially targeted for AoE skills, so you can use two dodge/provoke rainbows to cheese out a two-target boss, for example). Since rainbows dodge at a 80% rate, they can make your entire team nearly immune to single-target attacks (at least for the first two turns), but since gold-rarity girls can't equip provoke, their dodge is only good for personal survival. Then again, dodge golds are also much more common, and they're also very useful in endgame maps because guts and dodge are the main means of survival against certain bosses. The rarity promotion system also means that, if you like a particular gold with dodge, you can invest ampies on her and store up on promotion crystals to get a truly top-tier rainbow once her upgrade is implemented.

Barrier, however, is probably the strongest ability released so far - the rainbow version has your entire team block the first attack against them, refreshes on each node, and even stacks with dodge and miss abilities, so your one-time immunity isn't used up when these abilities trigger. Dodge + barrier is amazing for stalling against certain superbosses that require it - the second Kodaibana map, for example, features a boss node where enemy defenses are greatly increased on the first turn, while the nightmarish Re: Sakura & Ume map (a good contender for the hardest stage currently in the game) likewise features bosses with damage reduction that is gradually lifted as time passes. Due to its power, however, barrier is a seldom-distributed ability: Habranthus, Wolfberry and Apricot are currently the only rainbows with it, while Apple-of-Sodom has a gold version with limited targets. Also similar (and powerful) is the revival ability that is currently unique to Easter Cactus (though we may have another resurrection-themed girl this Easter), which is somewhat less potent than barrier due to reviving only three girls and only working once, but can still enable some hail mary plays.

Beyond these standalone abilities, there are a couple that are decent enough on their own, but become amazing when stacked: Attack reduction was so powerful that it received one of the very few nerfs in the game's history, and a full rainbow debuff party is still one of the best boss-killing compositions in FKG. Similarly, solar drive abilities are unique in the game for stacking multiplicatively, meaning that a full SD-focused rainbow party can do a number on even endgame bosses. Lastly, there are certain rainbows that excel through a combination of their abilities: Kerria has amazing sustain and synergizes greatly with debuff teams thanks to her combination of dodge, HP-based attack increase and lifesteal skill, Dendrobium, Christmas Dusty Miller and Christmas Sarcandra are first turn burst specialists par excellence, rainbow Lantana has an extremely potent panel ability that buffs all your teams, Soapwort can substantially reduce enemy skill activations, and any girl with "1.65x skill activation on first turn" and "15% attack to party per pest" abilities is worth consideration as a support unit.

Lastly, you can (and probably should) ignore this entire wall of text and just go with whichever girls you like best, as FKG is not a difficult game and only a handful of challenge stages require careful teambuilding to clear (they don't reward anything special either). The charm of this game, at least to me, is its massive roster of well-designed characters, and any gameplay concerns should be secondary to enjoying the girls that you find to be cute.

Oh, that's probably because only the super-tough challenge maps merit any kind of teambuilding discussion - nearly all other stages can be handled by a good set of bloomed golds (if even that), and most of them allow you to bring allies that can solo them with ease. In addition, stages such as Core and Re: Sakura & Ume are purely intended as bragging rights for whales with full-rainbow teams, comparable to majin 15 without goddess buffs in Aigis: Doing them is fully optional, with clear rewards that can easily be obtained elsewhere, and FKG devs were even nice enough to make an extra story for sealing the Nidhogg core so that players who couldn't finish the Core stage wouldn't feel that their game was incomplete.

I still think that taking it easy and enjoying the game's setting is the best way to go about for FKG - the 2ch blog (http://fkg.blog.jp/)) is a good place to follow for recaps of interesting discussions, and I also try to add my own dumb guesses and speculations in these threads. Speaking of which, despite the excitement and uncertainty around rarity growth mechanics, the most shocking new reveal is probably the fact that there's a mushroom knight in the setting now.

It's an update to these keys that you get from event stages to unlock fairy maps. Nobody really used these, since the unlocked maps still cost stamina and weren't that different from Wednesday/Sunday maps, so them getting buffed was expected for a long while (I think there was an official announcement to that effect too).

The revamp plans include making them cost 0 stamina, allowing the use of multiple keys to multiply your fairy rewards (like these special stages that you summon with event items), and letting you pick a specific color rather than splitting them as slashing/crushing and piercing/magic. Effectively, everyone with accumulated keys gets a big pile of fairies for free, and future events will keep giving you more. There will probably be some compensation for people who already used their keys as well.

Third tab is for raising levels. Focus on getting your first gold as high as possible because that determines the max level of your helper teams.

Collect fairies/manyus, preferrably of the same type as the girl you want to raise for bonus xp. Once she's at 60, get the dragons she needs to evolve and dump more fairies in afterwards. At 70, you'll need birds and petals and an elixir to bloom her. Once all that's done you can give her ampys and skill blooms and the like.
Fairies can be gotten from the Sunday and Wednesday dailies (and from the key stages but you should wait til next week to do those), dragons from the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday dailies, petals from the shop and nation missions, birds from the shop and some of the special mission, and elixirs from a different mission. A lot of these materials are also rewards in events, so it's always good to clear out everything or collect a bunch of event currency if you're able.
