1850403 No.1850403 [Reply] [Original]

Talking about Last bosses of the Windows series, it is the same as talking about the climax of each game. I have think a bit about which last boss is stronger, but maybe I'm losing some important points.

I'm not talking about power levels here, pure gameplay difficult in each game. It is very different from which one is stronger than others, also I'm refering to danmaku, fighting games don't count.

I have already encounter with every last boss in the series in Lunatic. I haven't succeed to complete all of them, but I have play enough to know how hard they are.

1. Remilia Scarlet. Probably a nightmare for those who have played a lot of IN or MoF. No hitbox makes it way harder especially when there are bulets coming from the sides and you have no space to manuver. For me, the hardest boss of the whole series.

2. Kanako. Her spell cards are way to hard and even if you have mastered all of them you will always end up dieing. Probably the hardest part is that most of her spell card are a combination of homing and non-homing danmaku, making you lose the focus most of the time.

>> No.1850406

3. Yuyuko. She could be the hardest of the last boss if it wan't that her spell cards are way too predictable. Once you have learn how to capture you can do it most the time after that. I still have a lot of respect to Resurrection Butterfly, makes me have goosebumps till today.

4. Eirin. Nothing against her, but her spell cards are not that hard. I hate those bean like danmaku tho. Astronomical Entombing is the only spell card I have problems with, lots of bullets coming at you, but not enough time.

5. Utsuho. Whats worst than lots of danmaku? Giant danmaku. Once you get used to it, it is not that hard, but it can surprise you. Haven't been able to capture Hell's Tokamak yet, but most of the rest of the fight is kind of a turn down on difficult. It is actually lot of fun to play against Utsuho, one of my favorites.

6. Kaguya. Way too easy, all her attacks (except non-SC) are memory based. Also you need some patient on this fight, her health bar is quite large sometimes.

About Sikieiki... I haven't been able to reach her. I'm wondering how hard she is.

>> No.1850423

>>1850406
Sikieki is one of the easier on this list.
Remilia on Lunatic is hands down the hardest thing in the windows games.

>if it wan't that her spell cards are way too predictable. Once you have learn how to capture you can do it most the time after that.

That's exactly why Mokou is such a failure of an extra boss. All you have to do is find out what stupid trick Zun wants you to do and you basically can't fail.

>> No.1850439

How exactly are you supposed to capture Scarlet Gensokyo? Luck?

>> No.1850440

All the extra bosses were easy. The ones that showed up again in StB were much more entertaining there than in the original game where they were kind of blah on difficulty.

>> No.1850444

>>1850439
Get REALLY good at dodging, otherwise its all luck.

>> No.1850447

Extra bosses are easy because they only have one version of that spell card. I dunno, that is what I think.

>> No.1850450

Yuyuko should be on second. Even if you learn her spell cards it still way too hard to avoid all the danmaku.

>> No.1850453

>>1850447
And that one version is typically rape incarnate.

Then again, I only play the games on normal and extra, so maybe I'm missing out by not being able to compare them to lunatic. But I still can't see justifying Flandre as being easy.

>> No.1850454

>>1850447
That and extra is below lunatic in difficulty.

>> No.1850457

>>1850453
When you start 1ccing lunatic you will find her easy.

>> No.1850466

I play Touhou for the fun, not the HURFUCK difficulty.

Hard Mode I play every now and then (to get better at Normal), Lunatic is right out.

Going by this, Orin is harder than any Stage 6 boss in the series.

I always thought Yuyuko was hilariously easy for a final boss. I have way more trouble with Eirin and Kaguya. Sumizome Perfect Cherry Blossom is the only really hard thing she has, and that's more because of the lifebar. Her last spell gives you a ton of borders so that's not nearly as bad as it could've been, and the rest of her cards are just stream this shit or run through slow moving projectile field while shit chases after you.

>> No.1850472

>>1850457
Well I've never actually gotten past her 8th spell (the counter clock one), so I guess I'll never know.

Except for Q.E.D.

It will kill you no matter how much you try.

>> No.1850487

>Q.E.D.
AAAAAaaaaaaarrrrrggghhhh....

Also, Kanako is easy. Just don't move too much and you will be ok.

Only if you try to time it out. I didn't find it all that hard, but I'm good dodging, also you can use the music to help you time where you need to go.

listen to the music, use it to time your movements better.

Move left 4 pixels on every beat of the music for the first 5 seconds, and then switch to right 5 pixels on every beat for the next 5, and then switch back and forth every 5 seconds. Easy card is easy.

>No hitbox makes it way harder
Hitboxes are for pussies. Play more EoSD and learn not to rely on it. Or you can go ahead and download the hitbox or retexture patch.

>>1850499
>you can use the music to help you time where you need to go.

I do this pretty often, since you can use to gauge how long you have until the midboss appears, or when certain enemies will start to appear.

>> No.1850598

>>1850579
I never play with hitbox. If the game can be beat without it, there is no need for it.

>> No.1850610

>>1850598
The thing is, your field of vision should never be right on your hitbox - which is why it's not necessary to see it. As long as you know where it is, you'll be weaving through shit without much hassle.

>> No.1850651

>>1850610
Once you have played the other games, it is hard to back to EoSD.

If you play EoSD you should only play EoSD. If you don't want to lose practice, you must stick to it.

>> No.1850662

>>1850651
I don't get this at all. I play mostly PCB and IN, but I have no trouble going back to EoSD after a month and 1cc'ing normal. MoF and SA are the ones that fuck with me because of the scoring and bombing systems.

>> No.1850677

>>1850651
Much like >>1850662, I don't have any problems going back to EoSD - because I've actually learned not to rely on my hitbox so much.

Though, I tend to do better at SA than at MoF. SA has given me a much worse grazewhoring habit though.

I netted 1300 graze on stage 1 EoSD on normal.

>> No.1850684

>>1850651
None of the PC-88 games have hitboxes either.

>> No.1850746

>>1850677
MoF is harder because of the small bullets. They make it way harder.

SA population on small bullets is really small.

>> No.1850999

Remilia is hard for sure, but there are other bosses more challenging than herself. Eirin is very strong, I bet you can't capture all spell cards even practicing for a year.

Remilia needs a lots of dodging and the difficult on her is only based on the hitbox. With it, she is actually as hard as Yuyuko.
