Depends on what your direction is. If you just want a game that's set in the general Nasuverse world, you can do that well enough as long as you can justify the dungeons and such in-universe (magi workshops having beasts and automatons and such for security, etc.), which shouldn't be too difficult if the writer knows what he's doing. Perhaps it'd be vaguely similar to a playable Case Files, or something like that.

If you want to specifically make a Fate RPG though, you either have to construct a specialized setting wholesale to accommodate typical genre/gameplay trappings alongside the usual Fate concepts, write your plot specifically for such things, or abandon usual rules like Servant/Master dynamics or a conventional HGW. There's a reason why Extra decided to put itself in a virtual world on the moon.

At the very least, introducing Servants into the mix means you need to have a surplus of potential enemies who can at least slightly threaten them (not really possible under normal circumstances if you're looking to place your game in modern day), as well as probably eschewing a normal RPG party feature unless you want to exacerbate the first issue with yet more Servants. The issue with that second problem is that turn-based RPGs with only one playable character acting in battle at a time are largely non-existent, things like strategy and tactical RPGs notwithstanding. Part of the reason Extra plays like trash is because it had to abandon tried-and-true gameplay design but couldn't come up with a satisfying alternative.

TYPE-MOON works have given birth to many types of spin-offs that go far beyond the realm of games and manga. What are your feelings on this?

Nasu: As the creator, I'm extremely happy to see the love of my fans manifest itself in these type of spin-offs. I gain a lot from it. However, I'm a bit old-fashioned, and believed that the best situation for any creator is to be able to give birth to their own original creation. Uro: No matter what the "original" concept may be, I think any sort of manifestation is fine as long as the author is enjoying it. The "Authors need their own castle" mindset is a bit outdated, I think.

Nasu: I think we can see that in Hiroyama Hiroshi, who's clearly pouring all of his talent into Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya (*4). AND he's enjoying it. (Laughs)

Whenever he allows things to be written by others, it ends up being Septem tier shit and overwanked characters. Badly received LNs and worse scoring anime adaptations. Getting nips mad as fuck about their characters being put in situations that are absolutely disgusting, like Agartha.And just a bad handle in general of the lore and such. With the exception being Zero, which isn't all too great, but the LNs are good.
