Has anyone gotten some jointed hands for their dollfie? I saw someone post a while back with pictures of theirs. I can't seem to find anything about it other than a few people suggesting to modify the doll to use stringed doll's jointed hands. If you can buy it direct, most are around 60,000 or 70,000 JPY I'd guess. They range from like 50,000 to 100,000 JPY though, depending on how much fancy stuff they come with.

So I though about making custom doll, where should I look for specific parts? The body's probably cheapest directly from volks and head from yahoo auctions but where should I look for eyes, dress and wig?
Those few outfits from volks/obitsu stores are not really good looking, avaiable eyes looks plain and wigs looks really cheap in comparison to something like pic rel.
I know that starting with custom one isn't very good idea and I though about buy some obitsu characters but I just can't avert my gaze from custom ddh-01, the ultimate cuteness.

Okay so the issue I'm referring to occurs when you remove the legs at the hip joint. They'll pop off easy enough but what can happen is the soft vinyl skin can get trapped inside the hip plug when reattaching the legs. This explodes the fragile plastic hip joint and she'll have really floppy legs. And when you take her apart to investigate little bits of plastic will come out of her torso.

There are two solutions: 1) Be very mindful of the soft vinyl skin when putting the legs back on so that it doesn't get stuck between the joints; and 2) cut the shit out of the skin so that it can't get in your way... the hole is hidden by the thigh as long as you don't have her doing the splits 24/7.

I'm not afraid of butchering my doll bodies to make life easier... I sanded down all my neck pegs just slightly until they weren't such a tight fit - makes pulling heads off super easy.

Oh and btw I know about the savings thing I burned through my house deposit to pay rent and keep the lights on here.

Well I like my girls wearing black stockings, overknee socks, etc, which when combined with silky white legs are almost always a recipe for disaster, so I have spare complete legs that are already heavily stained for when the girls are wearing black. I find stain treating changes the texture of the vinyl and it's just never quite right afterwards, so I strive to minimise it.

The heads in my experience are prone to getting stuck on... when I got Kagura she'd been sitting on someone's shelf for like 5 years without moving... so she was stuck on good and proper. And you know I was terrified trying to get her head off... not exactly easy to get a Kanojo these days. All I can say is take her wig off, use one hand to pull her head while twisting side to side and hold her shoulders with the other hand. Be prepared for it to let go suddenly. Food prep gloves will help to protect the head and faceup.

What kind of tips? There's a whole section on Yahoo for character dolls, and they're broken down into types of dolls like Super Dollfie and Dollfie Dream.
There's no magic bullet or secret glossary for finding your dream doll, you just have to look. Some sellers use descriptive titles and some don't. Some put their shit in the right categories and just don't give a damn.

I prewash all my colored clothes with one or two of those color catcher sheets you can buy in the laundry aisle. If the white sheet comes out colored with a lot of excess dye, I'll give them a second wash just to make sure. I feel like it's worked out pretty well so far

From what I can see: facial cleansing masks and washes to try to prevent it, little patches to cover small breakouts. Dermatologists are very popular and I have a feeling they'd prescribe things most western doctors wouldn't. And there's always the ever present option of plastic surgery later.

Yes, and it pisses me off that pretty much no one prewashes their fabric before sewing these tiny doll outfits. You know what you can wash with minimal risk? A yard of fabric. You know what is risky to wash? A small maid outfit with tiny details. For fuck's sake, prewashing your fabric is one of the basic rules of sewing. Eyeglass screws are generally quite small to begin with, so it can become problematic to make them even smaller. Some watch or jewelery screws could do, however, but they might be harder to find.

I think just covering up the regular screw heads might be the easiest way, with some paint or something that matches the color of the glasses.
