As for your question, It's all up to what your mental image of a satyr is. I'd avoid extra races because of the lack of feats and armor slots. Also keep in mind you can change the name of your race during character creation.

The problem with sword and boarding, is that you don't really take enough damage to justify it. If you did, you could just use holy shield or something to make up the difference. If even that wasn't enough, you'd need a shield just to survive and the other options would be nonviable. There's not really a good way to balance having the option of better defense, unless you make everyone else a glass cannon.Tanks only really work in games like mmo's where one person can pull all the attacks while the damage dealers attack in safety. You might be able to set up something like that with pets, I suppose.

Have you gotten to the point where skill training costs 10 plat? You'll hit it surprisingly quickly. A decent training session costs me about 300 plat (raising ten <100% potential skills 3 times) which are almost all earned from panic and challenge quests. Months pass so slowly that an extra 25/mo would hardly make a dent. Yacatect is excellent to get a head start from getting an early gemstone, but before too long it isn't enough.

Better to have lots of gold to buy growth scrolls later, and I'd rather have Kumiromi for that (stamina regen allows faster cooking and fishing to fill your shops). Useful for using lots of special actions in combat, performing, and houzanha-wrecking dungeons too. Tip: casting the regeneration buff also dramatically increases stamina regen and stacks with Kumi's boost.

Yep, you have to manually wait. But recovering 250 stamina by holding down 5 for a couple seconds beats resting *ten* times. Just tested it out, takes me 180 turns to recover 270 stamina with manual waiting/walking while regenerating, and over 500 turns when (R)esting.

I'm having a ton of fun making burgers and hoarding them in my house. I used Palmia's throneroom to unload the angry ones, and most of the time they'd get killed before they did too much damage, but one of them got lucky and took out all the guards+king/queen/general and it is now rampaging across the palace. Guess I'm not doing the main quest anytime soon.

I think I'm going to open a fast food restaurant. Once you have a pasture with sheep or some other cheap animal set up, making burgers in bulk is ridiculously easy and they sell well even for vendor value, nevermind what a decent shopkeeper would get for them.

For whomever made the elonsnack file for housekeepers, can you extend the number of NPC entries it looks for in the "cdatan_7_101.S2" file from 56 to 112? I've been experimenting lately, and I think I might have discovered how to make custom towns mostly functional, but the current files are unable to take into account more than 56 stayers when the max number seems to be 144.

My own converter won't accept any modifications to the cdata file for some reason, even changes that are reverted from an "edited" copy.

As far as I can tell magic stores don't sell potions of confusion and sleep drug. If they do, the chance they're stocked must plummet after investment (never seen them). You would have to gather dirty water and curse scrolls by hand in say the puppy cave, then craft negative potions at the pot of fusion. What's even the point of the wish spell anymore. It has a horrible chance to work if your casting isn't in the thousands, it consumes a ton of stock, the spellbooks are rare and so is the chance of getting it from a blessed wonder scroll. My tip to bread lovers would be to get an extra farm and use it for all the unknown seeds you pick up from quests/kumi statues. Bannou mugi (wheat), harvestable from September to February, can be made into a large amount of flour/noodles (and alcohol you can throw into your shop). Artifact weapons usually last a while until you find better. Black market and eventually mass crafting will net you some of the best (living). Finally beat Zeome with my snail tourist. My goal was under 50 hours, and I almost made it. I got to him at around 46 hours, but screwed up. Remember kids, boss floors reset every visit, so you lose everything you drop, items, undead coffins, everything. Several hours later my new undead army, with support from gravity sphere, managed to bring him down.

I died 16 times this chapter, unless I forget to write some down.

My next goal will be the statue of kumi and getting my equipment slots. Maybe completing this chapter by 80-100 hours. Once I get equipment, the statue, and same AP boosted speed, I'll probably ditch necromancy. I've decided on going with 2-handed stave user, I'll be grabbing the blood-rod from sil the card witch once I think I can handle her. It looks interesting. The remaining slots will probably be arms and maybe necklaces. The defense seems good enough, and I don't know of any equipment attributes I'll care about that don't spawn on that gear. Unless anyone's got any better ideas.

A brief summary of events for the curious:

Right at the start I forget to get the riding skill and had to rely and lulwy's trick to be able to complete harvest time quests. I suppose could have ran fetch quests in the mean time if that didn't work. At around 25 hours in I got my speed high enough to ditch the "Movement Rehabilitation Specialist" nurse I got in derphy. She was retrained to work the shop I had just opened. I finished getting my business card and final skills by 30hrs. I missed Lulwy's 4th gift by 8 days and will finish her this year.

I mostly avoided cleaner infested cities, except once to get the gene engineering machine, and for Palmia and Lumiest. It's pretty easy to sneak past them and use sleeping drugs if you know where they are, but it's still a hassle I'd like to avoid. They don't kill you in one hit with salt, you always have a few points of health left I've noticed. The second hit though... Later on I'll move them with the Resurrection trick (if it still works) and have free reign of the cities. Did you know the sewer sweeping quest giver counts as a cleaner? That mission will be fun to do.

I will never underestimate frailness again. Finally managed to beat Meshera Alpha, and I almost thought I wouldn't be able to, since my strongest pet with full charge was barely doing 1/3 of its life, and it would just regen it back in a couple turns.

Considering you can become practically invincible and get a huge amount of bonus points (read: free stats+skills) from the levels, to me it seems proper to only be able to get a steady supply as an Archmage running ye olde ADOM Wish Engine (acquired the means to reliably cast wish).

You already have all the ''must-haves'', but it might be helpful to know that the recently added god merchandise that's only available in Act 3 is not precious and can be wished for earlier. The ''Painting of Ehekatl and Swordfish'' is of particular note, as simply placing it in your home will prevent beggars, citizens, punks, Mysterious Producer, and adventurers with low impress from visiting. ''Itzpalt's Sculpture'' seems to automatically activate when cooking and prevent low rank results, ''Mani's Alarm Clock'' will always wake you up on time for breakfast if you carry it on you. Just a couple things to note, the Itzpalt item uncurses cooked food. I've gotten rank 2 items from it. The alarm clock makes you sleep for 8 hours always. The Kumiromi item could be useful if you have a need for artifact seeds. The only one not at all worth a wish is Lulwy's item.

No. Copy the contents of your save folder from the old version over, then run the game as usual. It will give you a notice it's updating your save to new version on the first time you select your save file.
Keep your old version still available until you're sure new version is working properly.
As good measure, always save in your house (or a town, or some other static map) before attempting to update - sometimes updating causes save corruption / crashing problems if you try to do it on a non-static map.

There hasn't been any need to give potential potions to pets for a long time. Just give your pets the pickpocket skill, and they will earn money from fighting which they spend on raising their stat AND skill potentials on their own. You can fuse ores to give them for selling. When you start making a lot of dough, you can give them 100k at a time through evochat. These things ensure their potentials are always be close to maximum.

So, I've played Elona in 1280*720 for a long time, but I've always wanted to play at a higher resolution. A while ago I tried setting it to 1920*1080 in the config.txt, but I ran into an issue (pic related): Elona has a maximum vertical resolution of 868.
I worked out some 16:9 resolutions that conformed to this limit, but whenever I tried to use them my display failed to change to the resolution, and Elona just displayed as a borderless window in the top left of my screen. It seemed my graphics card did not support these nonstandard resolutions so I just gave up for the time.

Yesterday, I found out I could make my graphics card display a nonstandard resolution by faffing about in the 2d driver registry files, so I've been working to find the best resolution. (Continued)

Rice grains produce *ten* rice balls per unit in the pot of fusion. These many balls can be used in other recipes, such as junk making. Junk making gives you broken vases which can be used for milk processing, dead fish to offer to Ehekatl, and worthless gold bars to offer to the ore gods. Also dirty water for harmful potion making. The power of unlimited favor and cheese is packed in this grain.

Something else that might be useful: The large amount of alcohol gained from processing bannou mugi can be combined with fruit from trees (is +0 so stacks more easily than fruit from your farm) to create a ton of essential oil. These oils let you spam the often overlooked skill Aromageddon. This gardening skill-dependent wide action increases all visible allies' gauges 15%, heals their MP (functionally a heal once they have barrier), and puts a speed-lowering debuff on every enemy in sight.

At least feather alleviates most of the damage

I love the game and have spent hundreds of hours on it, but this is true. You could argue for a grinding world-sim they're fine, but adjusted dungeon generation with e.g. static special rooms, out of depth treasure/monsters and more detailed themed maps would be a huge improvement. I recall an anon made a start by making a bunch of new maps to add to the dungeon generation, but I'm not sure what happened with that.

I just noticed that my return scrolls won't give me my house in north tyris as an option when used in south tyris. does this mean I can build another house here?

Nope, you can only build 1 house. You can build it in South Tyris, but then you can't return to it if you're in North Tyris.

If you want a return point in South Tyris, you can instead buy the Maid Mansion. It costs 2 million though, and you can't move it from its spot on the map.

You can change standard attack to dart spell at Leold, and also increase frequency of said standard attack. Lower movement frequency to let her roll for special actions. Don't even need custom AI. Tag her with somebody strong and get her some AP to grab some skills.

Three years will pass once you beat Lesimas, so you might want to setup a bunch of ranches and farms to benefit from the time skip. You can still find all those bozos in parties and beat Pael's quest afterwards. Gwen the innocent will be permanently gone from the game and replaced with Gwen the pitiless, so astral pen her if you'd like. Think that's about it.

Gifts are rare but cheap at general stores, and common but extremely expensive at souvenir vendors. Once you get to Friend level (can't interact with her to check but shouldn't take that long) you should be able to use tokens of friendship.

It happens when resurrect fails. When cast as a spell you have a chance to cast it, and a chance to succeed. You also need to have changed maps at least once, to prevent spamming resurrect during boss fights and such.
