Parsee has it the worst off out of all the Touhous, disregarding Orange.

I like the Aki sisters.

But I agree that they're pretty much just there. The do have potential, in doujinshi, to be important characters in the human village due to their ability. But otherwise, they just sort of seem like "slice-of-life" character-types.

Then again, I personally think they're significantly better off when compared to Yamame.

1. When he does those flashes, a lot of times the characters seem out of character. It just bugs me sometimes.

2. He overuses jokes. It's not really a big issue to me, but that's mainly why I stopped going to his site.

As if touhou doujins follow the characters' personalities in the official game right down to the most minute detail. Same thing for the jokes (LOL CIRCLE 9 IS SO BAKA, YUYUKO EATS SO MUCH, YUKARI SLEEPS ALL THE TIME XD)

That's not a joke.

Of course they don't. However, how they present their trash makes an incredibly huge difference. Walfas... is difficult to take seriously in any shape, way, or form. His delivery of jokes is absolutely terrible. If you're going to use the same old jokes, you'd better figure out a way to package them in a way so that they feel fresh and new. I feel it's safe to say that the art is not his focus, so I'm not going to say much on it.

My tastes also heavily lean towards more "realistic" (you know what I mean) depictions of the characters, but that doesn't mean I hate everything that goes against my own ideas. If they pull it off in a way that doesn't seem forced, then it can easily be enjoyable. For instance, FLIPFLOPs making all the Touhou characters go to the SDM to party with snowballs is silly bullshit on paper. However, it worked out pretty nicely in the end, having the characters dick around, but still giving an opportunity for the story to actually go somewhere.

Walfas on the other hand... Well, you've got to either be really good at telling jokes, have a very stupid audience in order for non-sequitur humor to work in any way. I know it's sort of silly using those standards for Walfas against most doujinshi, which have a lot of opportunities to expand their story, but let's be honest here. If we actually want to call Walfas "good", then he'd better find a way to use his limiting medium in a more effective manner.

Seconding this. I don't really keep up with most of the side material for Touhou and I'd honestly never seen anything Walfas made before, but that link was terrible. It's everything which characterizes unfunny shows like Family Guy except injected into Touhou and the result seems (perhaps appropriately) spawned from the abyss of Gaia.
